Syria protestors set Danish embassy on fire over cartoons

DAMASCUS (Reuters) - Hundreds of Syrian demonstrators set the Danish embassy on fire on Saturday to protest the printing by a Danish newspaper of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad, a Reuters witness said.
The fire badly damaged the embassy's building. Protestors also threw stones at the building shattering its windows.

Damn! I don't care that these Cartoonies torch it, but when they shatter the windows, that's war!
What is with the stone-throwing, anyway? Besides the fact that anyone who threw a stone to inflict harm or damage in my neck-of-the-woods would be arrested, if I walked outside right now, I wouldn't be able to find one to throw. What these people need is a decent DPW to pick up and crush the darned things.
The building also housed the Chilean and Swedish embassies. Too bad none of those countries have the global reach to bomb Damascus. However with aerial tanking, the Danes could probably manage it. Or we could repaint some two seat F/A-18s with Danish markings, a Danish AF pilot could actually drop the bombs, while the US Navy pilot takes care of launch and recovery. :)
Oh, wait a minute. Not necessary. Denmark is a formal ally of the US (NATO). An attack on an embassy is the same as an attack on the country itself. Denmark has been attacked, and we, along with Britain, Germany, Norway, and the rest of NATO, are pledged to help defend her.
I think some precision guided bombs on the Presidential Palace (or whatever they call the place where Assad lives), the Baath party headquarters, and the HQ of their "intelligence" service, would be a good opening round. Delivered of course by aircraft that they never see.
