Breaking on CNN..Danish Embassy set on fire by Cartoon protesters
I am not stupid enough to think some genuine change will come because of this, but it's the first glimmer of hope I've seen over there!
No, IIRC, ROP stands for 'Religion of Pyromaniacs'!
Too often the liberal press and the far right who hate GW will call someone in the State, CIA, FBI or Justice departments an administration member.
The reality is these so called admin members are nothing but leftovers from the Carter/Clintoon cesspools.
Expell all the Muslims in those countries.
It's so obvious what our press is all about.
They didn't fear publishing Abu Graib pictures and inciting the Muslim world.
But when it involves another country, they won't publish the cartoons for fear of inciting the Muslim world.
Right Wing Nuthouse calls it more of an example of laziness and poor writing ability on the media's part. For instance he says:
So just where did the State Department get it wrong? They stand up for free speech. They recognize that the cartoons offended Muslims. They tell the idiots in the Middle East to look to their own portrayals of Jews and Christians before going off half cocked about the Mohamed cartoons. And they call upon everyone to settle down.
But all we got from press reports was the fact that the State Department seems to be condemning the Danes and other European publications for running the offending cartoons and an obligatory nod to the First Amendment.
Also on this Little Green Footballs link Charles posts the transcript from the actual briefing of Scott McCormack at State Dept. He gives a MUCH fuller explanation to the State Dept's stance on the situation with Denmark than was initially reported by the press. AND, btw, reported word for word by three different reporters.
I know it would come to a huge shock to us all to discover our media had poor writing skills, huh?.....:^)
SE Mom - See #367 and the links which will make you feel more comfortable with the State Department's response to the cartoon matter.
I'm reading Ari Fletcher's book about his tenure as WH press secretary and should have known better than to accept the media's portrayal of the State Department's official statement regarding this matter.
Ari confirms what we all know about the media, and worse. His examples of how they deliberately misquoted him and others in the administration are outrageous. It is no wonder no one trusts the media anymore.
Thanks for the ping to this, prairie!
Wolfstar - ping to #367. The State Department official statement regarding the cartoon matter has not been accurately portrayed in the press. (Big surprise).
Thanks Peach. I'm glad someone found the transcript and posted it.
What does the ships helm wheel stand for?
**If much milder cartoons were so outrageous for a Danish cartoonist, it should have been even more so for some Imam, yet it was ok for him in order to incite violence. No one is going after him.**
Excellent point!! Guess only imam's can insult muslims. They did it to get more lunacy out of their organized riots. Why isn't the MSM reporting this outrage?? Oh I know, they don't want to insult the muslims.
Buddhist wheel of dharma.
Maybe, but this was a Danish court. I don't know why it wasn't a military court, but maybe they don't have separate military courts.
**I bought a bumper sticker from Cafe Press that says:
Jesus Loves You
Allah Wants You Dead**
Talk about a TRUE bumper sticker!!! We should all put one of those on our cars.
Whew...thanks for the ping to this Peach- I can feel my bp lowering:) But..then it raises when I realizse the way the media DELIBERATELY manipulated what the Stae Dept said..
Ari's book is terrific, isn't it? I surely miss him.
Chile? WTF?
I've seen Ari's book in the library for months and although I really liked him, I really wasn't interested in reading it. But I'm so glad I did. Just finished it a few minutes ago.
His examples of press spin should be required reading in every household in America, imo. Even among those of us who knows the press lies.
Most American households wouldn't know who Ari is- nor would they have known who Mike McCurry was (is)..
