The military is worried about the divorce rate so it blames the spouses instead of the year long deployments??? Hey, the long deployments are a fact of life. And back in WW II-- it wasn't year long-- you stayed until the war was won.
So if the nature of military life demands long stretches away from home (and long hours even in garrison), our service members are well advised to pick their spouses carefully. It takes a deep commitment from a soldier's spouse to support that soldier "for better or worse." And yes, not everyone is up to it.

The military is worried about the divorce rate so it blames the spouses instead of the year long deployments??? Compared to other wars, a year is not all that long. Still there's not much the military can do, absent a large increase in their numbers, and thus their budgets, about the deployments. They don't make policy, they only execute it.

The military is worried about the divorce rate so it blames the spouses instead of the year long deployments???Believe me, it is very badly needed. The majority of the problems in a lot of these guys' marriages is due to their utter inability to choose a good woman.
Case in point, I have a Soldier who is determined to marry a woman whom he has known for 6 weeks and who has already cheated on him with an ex-boyfriend (she said he forced himself on her, but she still has feelings for him so she won't press charges...gotta remember that one...). This class sounds like a very good idea, I hope it gets implemented here ASAP.

The year long deployments do not help but they are not the root of the real problem in a military marriage. I have seen a lot of young women who think it is romantic to marry a soldier(he looks soooo good in his uniform)but they have no idea what it really means to be married to the military-which is what you are doing when you marry a soldier, airman or marine.

The military is worried about the divorce rate so it blames the spouses instead of the year long deployments??? The concept of "sacrifice" is lost on far too many military spouses. There are many perks to being a military spouse but there are sacrifices that must be made as well. Nothing is for free.
