Yes we have to compete, no we are not on any path to destruction. We are thriving, rich, prospering. The global economy is something we created that has fabulously enriched us first and foremost. Yes it means working, absolutely right. We invented the concept, and we excel at it. I can't stand the pointless and utterly groundless gloom and doom and scaremongering nonsense that passes for political thought among ideologues. The economy is not a source of doom. It isn't coming to kill you all. Men work because that is the nature of things, and they prosper when they work hard. So work hard and prosper, and be thankful for the freedom and opportunity and prosperity all around you.

Exactly so! I don't recall saying anything contrary to that but perhaps I did by inference for which I apologize.

The road to destruction I have spoken of is that of not carrying out our responsibilities as citizens and nothing more.
