The show does something that is hard to do sometimes face to face. It attacks sacred cows from the left and supposed right that many have established over the years. Except for a few episodes, probably one of the most conservative shows currently on television. I think if they did the show with real actors and not animated, it would have been cancelled long ago. Republicans especially don't like their Achilles heels flaunted in front of them. But with animation, they get across the point in a humorous manner.

If anything, I hope it has influenced the under 24 generation. Looking at some of the polls, it may very well have. Seeing younger people actually polling for limited government instead of falling under one of the party lines which is far less important than the principle

You'll be happy to know that an vast majority of those you profess to be "children" or at least "with the minds of children" hold the same beliefs you do in politics. Perhaps its time to either-
A: Rethink your position on cartoons (Hell, even cartoons from Bugs Bunny's hey-day had political commentary... and they were even used for morale support for our Troops durring WWII!

Or

B: No wait... there is no "b." Switching sides isnt an option- all children's shows (Sesame Street) have a lefty leaning.

Why not just try to enjoy the entertainment? Or do you prefer to watch the more "grown-up" movies made by Hollyweird? You can say you like reading books. I do too. But you can't honestly say the only thing on your TV is Fox News.

Now wait a minute... Did you or did you NOT just state that you don't watch the show? How do YOU know it's so uninvolving as you say? You mean to tell me you don't read the political cartoons in your paper?

I have never watched South Park I have watched the trailers for it on occasion. I dont like smart mouthed kids or cartoons of smart mouthed kids. Thats what I see in the trailers. If you want to watch it and have kids be learning from it , Be my guest.

And I'm sure smart mouthed kids didn't exist "in your day" either.

And who on earth (aside from you) said the show was for kids?

It has kids as it's star characters... but it is hardly a show for kids.

It may send you on a nostalgia trip to see the episode where the boys go to Afghanistan and Cartman defaets Osama Bin Laden.

Wish I could reference the title of the episode (or even number).

I bet you didn't like tomatoes on your burgers growing up either. Try it. You may like it now.

Should there be a sarcasm tag here? I think it's obvious these guys don't care a bit about being politically correct.

I think its more along the lines that they were waiting for proper insperation.

Mormons and Catholics are fairly common place in American Culture. They did their bit against the Taliban. Only recently have things moved to the "Muslims in general acting this way" on the news.

In other words- expect a Muslim satire soon.

I haven't watched SP, but I notice from the SP watchers on this thread that they are still "waiting" for the goof on Islam. Meanwhile the SP goofs on Catholics/Mormons/ Jews are well know. What's up with that? Political correctness?

Should there be a sarcasm tag here? I think it's obvious these guys don't care a bit about being politically correct.

Yes, I know what the conventional wisdoms is about SP. They are "politically incorrect". Maybe I should conform to that view, right?

I just gave you an example (in bold) where it appears that they are being politically correct.

Bashing Catholics and Mormons is hardly politically incorrect in the MSM culture -- Muslim satire would be. So where is it?

They've been doing the show for 8 years. You've been watching the show. Give examples of politically incorrect Muslim satire on the South Park.
