Fox News Sunday (Chris Wallace)
NBC Meet The Press (Tim Russert)
CBS Face The Nation (Bob Schieffer')
ABC This Week (George Stephanopoulos)
CNN Late Edition (Wolf Blitzer)
I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for. For example, do you think that Bob Schieffer will ask leaky Leahy or the columnist from the New York Times about the damage caused by their respective illegal leaks?
Also, no one took up my challenge last week to identify the reference to Jimmy "hornblower" Carter. During his speech at one of the Democrat conventions after Humphrey's death (I think '92, when Clinton was nominated) Carter was introducing a tribute to Humphrey. When he came to this "great stateman's" name, he slipped and used the insulting version that he had used when President: "Hubert Horatio Hornblower..... er Humphrey"
No disrespect, but does anyone watch these shows anymore (outside the Beltway)?
No Biden?
The name of this "topic" really makes me angry.......
domestic spying hearings
I want you to know how much I appreciate you doing this...my time, even on Sundays lately is getting crunched so much...that I need to know ahead of time what will be worth hanging around the TV for...
BTW...I also really enjoyed your posts on last week's Sunday thread.
Some do, some don't. Some come to FR to read the thread posted Sunday mornings by Alas Babylon. He's been doing that for quite some time and it is one of the liveliest and most informative threads on FR. Many people don't bother (or are unable) to watch the shows, but get the information they need from that thread.
Last weeks thread has 1,149 posts, as of now.
A few people liked the preview I put up last Saturday, so I'm doing it again to see if I can contribute something to ABs live Sunday thread. My hope is to give people a little advance warning on what the planned topics are.
I bet if Michael Hayden or anyone could just come up with a name to call this that would be easy to remember...but be the ACTUAL type of intelligence...this would go away a lost faster.
Just having 'domestic" and "spying" together is a totally negative connotation..and totally false.
Just a ping to a NEW thread...and a great idea, IMHO.
Perhaps we can all see the wonderful Cartoons that have summoned our enemies out of their caves? :-)
I appreciate this heads-up before the Sunday shows. I now restrict myself to Fox News Sunday, but in the Clinton era I watched them all.
Thank you and no problem. I was hoping to get some people thinking ahead of time so that we'd have the opportunity to prep. I have a feeling that there are a lot of folks in the media, right and left, who have taken to checking out threads like ABs live thread looking for both insight they can use and ammunition they can use against us. The more prepared we are the better we can do when presenting our arguments.
I even have the wild notion that a post I made to the Meet The Press "what do you want to ask our guests" web site might have influenced a question that little Timmy asked this last week. Unlikely, I grant you, but I can dream! More imporantly, someone else may use the link to post a really important question or bit of information that will actually make a difference. We have impact here. Never forget Post 47 by Buckhead. Freepers like that are out there. If I can provide a link, or someone else makes a comment that sparks that post, then we can make a difference. We've already done it.
I also thank you for the compliment on last weeks posts. My quality is wildly erratic and it's nice when I happen to get on thread when I'm on a roll ;^>
I had a really good week last week. Not only did I end up with a spot on the top 10 from ABs thread, as posted by MNJohnnie, but apparently my thread pointing to Byron York pointing to the melt down on Daily KOS over the Cloture vote got mentioned on Rush (hey, a 3rd hand mention on Rush is more than I ever expected!).
I believe in compensatory luck. Therefore, this week I'm going to be completely incomprehensible. Be warned.
Just having 'domestic" and "spying" together is a totally negative connotation..and totally false
Yup, and fat Timmy Russert loves to say it over and over again.
The Sunday morning talk show thread is easily the best thread on Free Republic
We need to be careful about Freeping these folks. The media is starting to try to set us up as the "bad guys" in the "blogosphere" (the fact that we're not a blog is far from the point for them). Look at things like the recent hit from www.afro.com. We're "right wing fanatics out to distort the truth."
We should use ABs discussion thread on Sunday to get feedback on anything we plan to post to make sure that we've got all of our ducks lined up in a row. We can't afford to give them ammunition. That's the whole idea of my thread. We need to gather our ammunition so that when we do post things, particularly in very public places, we are confident of our positions.
Please note, this is a "do as I say, not as I do" type of post ;^>

Considering the topic du jour for Sunday seems to be the NSA hearings...here is an article that all should read before Sunday.
Fat Timmy gets his question list directly by email from the Daily Kos. I would not bother emailing him any questions.
The Twilight Zone, part 3
Don't miss John's invaluable analysis of the legal issues raised by the NSA program: "On the legality of the NSA electronic intercept program." In my view, the legality of the NSA program described by the president and the New York...

The blogosphere remains the best source of analysis on the legality of the NSA electronic intercept program. And John's analysis immediately below is the best analysis I've seen on the blogosphere. (The Justice Department letter mentioned in the add-on to...

In his famous concurring opinion in Youngstown Sheet & Tube, the case involving President Truman's seizure of steel mills pursuant to his executive power during war time, Justice Jackson identified three categories of presidential exercise of power: 1. When the...

Thanks, I will read those as well.
I also suggest the article on National Review by Andrew McCarthy.

Aren't you shooting your load a little early?
