"IED" could mean just about anything. I used IED's as a kid to blow up plastic model cars as I pushed them down the driveway.
Hell, we had a 17 year old in our area who was recently found with 6 pipe bombs in the trunk of his car. He was charged with 6 counts of possesion of weapons of mass destruction.
That may be, but since it stands for Improvised Explosive Device, it probably fits this thing better than most of the ones in Iraq. The latter use real professionaly produced explosives, and increasing professionally produced detonators and control devices as well. This thing, whatever it turns out to be is probably a whole lot more Improvised.
