Well, reinforced masonry with large interlocking blocks would do the job, but an average size house would then cost several million.

They need a few more Fs on then since F3's are now F5's - how will we really know when a mile wide monster is about to hit?

Hmmmm .....then I guess under this new system the 1999 Oklahoma tornado must have been a what ....F8? After all, it was an extremely strong F5 (some say they should have given it a new rating of F6) ....thus with the new ratings it apparently got an enlargement.

It's all just a label game anyway. The tornado that hit Marshall Co Kentucky last fall was classified as an F3 "or maybe an F4" by the weather service. It demolished houses and leveled everything in it's path- but in an isolated and fairly rural area around Kentucky Lake.
The tornado that hit Madisonville, just "down the road" as we say in KY, was classified an F5 but the damage was no worse there.
What I'm trying to say is, when there's a 200 year old oak tree where your bedroom used to be or a few cement blocks where the rest of your house used to be, it doesn't matter what the weather service classifies the tornado as.

Here is the SPC official explanation. I figure by the time we hit June the media will be all over the global warming my god we've had soooo many more F-5's this year story.
"New Enhanced F-Scale"

We use a modified "F" scale for dust devils here in New Mexico.
The "F" rating is determined by the number of blue Wal-mart bags swirling around in the vortex.
