I can't help but take this as a sign that the Republicans in the House aren't serious about carrying the fight to the enemy, i.e, the Democrats.

I can't help but take this as a sign you didn't look at the Breaking News sidebar... :-P

My horse was Shadegg. What is the book on Boehner? I just heard M. Medved say that he has never bookmarked an appropriation.

Agree. I met Boehner with my students in WA about a year ago. He spent perhaps 20 minutes with us, and looked completely disinterested, and when asked about immigration, basically shrugged and said, in essence, "There's nothing you can do about it."
Yet 10 years ago, he was a firebrand.

Potential linguistic history in the making - will his mistakes become a catchword? I hope he doesn't pull any serious boners or his face could end up in the dictionary.

At the risk of seeming to make light of the situation, I hope, quite strongly, that he consider a name change.
This gives the 'Rats waaaaaaay to much ammunition...

Oooops.
Did I say "'Rats"?
To: dinoparty
I was hoping for Diamondcutter or at least Blue-Veiner.

I thought his name was pronounced "Bay-ner" and not "Bone-r" -- was I wrong about that?
As for Hardon, I think Jane Fonda was married to him once... ;o)

I completely concur about Boehner's lack of depth.
He is the personified Empty Suit; and there will be an aura of "Business As Usual" about the House during his tenure.
But, in finality, the responsibility for the House leadership rests with Hastert, who, in my view, was alot better as a wrestling coach than in a political leadership position.
Pox on these craven bums. I say! Register and vote as a conservative Independent!

That reminds me of that Saturday Night Live:
Knock Knock...
"Who is it?"
"I've got a pizza for Mr Asswipe."
"Its as-WEEP-eh !!"

There was a commercial like that. A guy is looking for a job and calls "Mr. Dumas" by the name "Dumbass." He goes through the whole thing like that, saying it wrong 3-4 times before the man corrects him...

Rep. Jim Ryun from Kansas, who was not an announced candidate, got two votes! Yeah, Jim!
