NumbersUSA has prepared the following analysis of a draft immigration bill prepared in late 2005 by Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA). While the Specter proposal has many strong enforcement provisions, including mandatory employment eligibility verification through the Basic Pilot program, the benefits to the American people would be far outweighed by the proposals massive increase in immigration and foreign worker importation. This analysis provides an overview only of the parts of the proposal that address amnesty, guest workers, and legal, permanent immigration levels; it does not cover the sections of the proposal dealing with enforcement. Almost all of the enforcement provisions in the Specter proposal are identical to those in Sen. Cornyns S. 1438, as examined in this section-by-section analysis

A fence won't do any good if Arlen gets his way because the whole world will be able to come legally.
That would be a waste of time and money.
A simple computerized match of names and SS numbers could be used to remove illegals from the work force. When they could not find work, many of them would return voluntarily to their countries.
We need to take a lesson from France. They needed labor to support their welfare state, so in the 60s, they began importing Muslims to work in France.
Now look where they have a minority population that passes the time by burning cars.
I don't suppose anyone is considering that unemployment is at 4.9%. Ten years ago we considered 6% to 6.5% or so to be full employment.
I am frankly more concerned about four years of declining real wages for the middle class. If the labor market is really so tight, why aren't wages rising as supply and demand suggests they should?
"This is not about removing anybody. Spinctor is planning a massive expansion of legal immigration. He is throwing every American job open to foreign compettition."
This is part of the plan for global governance. They will destroy this country, divide it into regions that will be part of a North American government. We will be ruled by bureaucratic elites who will use us a labor/serfs.
We need landmines.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Are you kidding me?! They would instantly become welfare queens.
I would guess that it takes time for substantive changes to take plce - the market only really tightened over the last 1-1/2 years. Many workers were listening to the mSM and Dims talking about a "jobless recovery" and were also likely a little on the shy side of pushing for higher wages. If it isn't going up in the next 6-9 months, I'll start to be concerned, but not yet.
We're out of room.
End all immigration. We have enough people.
Do you recall what Spector said about his bill at the time he introduced it?
Nope.
We're out of room.
End all immigration. We have enough people
Box up the statue of liberty and send it to France. We don't want it anymore. They can put it back together and aim it towards "Mecca".
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Are you kidding me?! They would instantly become welfare queens.
We have Salvadorans here who were displaced by their little "earth-quake & mudslide scenerio" we allowed them to come here on a mercy deal. Guess what. NOW THEY WON'T GO HOME". So much for GUEST WORKER!!! Tell Guest Worker to the wind and the rain. Holds no promise for me.
