It enrages me to think this is going on - but this perversion is just an indicator of demand for the product. The fault lies with the junkies and addicts in NYC, the northeast, and to a lesser degree, elsewhere in the US. I recall reading that there are several hundred thousand IV drug users in the NYC market. Someone needs to make it clear that their discretionary habit is causing massive dislocations in South America, and now is giving drug producers and incentive to use puppies. I say Jihad on heroin smugglers/producers/distributors!

Trying to impress upon a heroin user the societal cost of their drug usage is a fool's errand. They typically are not concerned about such things.
