Like I've been sayin for over a year on these CA threads... Arnold is going to pull a Jesse Ventura on the Republican Party and leave it as dead in CA as the Reform Party was left by Jesse on a national basis!

The thrill is gone for Arnold!!! He's sick of all the infantile political bickering!!! He thought he could rule with the sheer force of his indominatable personality and that's just not been true at all. Now he's getting discouraged, bored and growing more disinterested each day that passes!

Only the adrenalin of adulation kept him going. The arcane rules and processes of state governance bores him to death! The fun of being "in their faces" is also now gone after the slap in the face he recieved in the special election. He thought he could lead, but when he looked back... NO ONE WAS FOLLOWING!!!

Good summary.

On the other hand, couldn't he just say..."Maaaaariaaaah! Hand me ze checkboooook!"

It would've been nice if he could've made more of a difference. Whenever I feel disgruntled about politics in Wisconsin, I just look westward to Kalifornia and count my blessings. ;)

That decision, if it comes to it, will be made by th New Majority, not the Austrian.

A deciding moment will come when the Republican primary results are published. If there are noticeably more votes cast for MClintock - Lt. Governor than Schwarzenegger - Governor, the stage will be set for retrospect. The New Majority, at that point in early June, has more time than they did in 2003 to dig up a celebrity spokesman. A fresh, new Terminator.

Pipe Dream.

Nice principles.

Whenever you feel grateful Kerry didn't win, just look Ohioward to Arnold's endorsement of Bush and count your blessings.

You're right, this political game is a game of inches. We should fight for every gain we can make. The recall was good for California, whether Arnold is reelected or not (I'll support him over any Dem.).

Good for you!

Arnold and Tom both know the stakes, and now McClintock is being called a prostitute for wanting to unite Republicans to divide the democrats.

Totally meaningless. Both will run unopposed. If mcclintock is more popular than arnold, let him run against arnold in the primary.

Just curious. What state are you from that you are so proud of you won't even post it's flag on your profile page?

Gov. S. has followed through on his promise to not let contributions affect this policies. Naturally, he will get not credit for this whatsoever from the MSM.

Nonetheless, he has vetoed many Republican bills and bills benefiting the many small businesses and consumers who donated heavily to him. Now, no one is stupid enough to give him money, since they know it will not get them any traction with the Gov.

There is absolutely NO mystery here. He burned his constituency and so they won't give anymore. Let him beg that mysterious Dem coalition he's trying to form for dollars. Except, of course, the Dems all want to see him go down in flames, so they'll hold back too.

Guess he's gonna have to follow through on his promise to use his own money.

He shouldn't write checks with his mouth that he can't cash.

Totally meaningless.

Not if liberalism, the unlisted candidate, the 400 lb. gorilla, is part of the franchise equation and it probably will be considering the documented outrage among the Republican Party grass roots.

If mcclintock is more popular than arnold

More precisely: If conservatism is more popular than liberalism among registered Republicans.

now McClintock is being called a prostitute for wanting to unite Republicans to divide the democrats.

More accurately, Senator McClintock is being forced into ideological prostitution by a group that wants to turn the California Republican Party into an adjunct of the California Democrat Party.

This group has recently added a twist of fascism, dovetailing business & government sectors into a single economic unit, all at an unnecessary, added expense to the California tax payer.

Conservatives are no longer occupied with the battle against the Democrat wolves at their front door. Their attention has now been diverted completely by the Republican gang from Orange County raiding their pantry.
