Lots of decent people all over the world. If we didnt put huge roadblocks in front of them in terms of waits and expenses they would flood from the world over. Mexico gets no preference. When 60% of their country believes they can come into our country at will, legally or illegally, because we stole the SW US from them, I have a problem with that. And so should you.

If you live in Los Angeles you should expect some Mexican influence.

Southerners came to terms with the black minority/culture, and it was the proper thing. Think ya'll are special?

I dont live in Los Angeles and I havent said thing one about mexican culture so Im not sure what your point is. The people of mexico can immigrate here in similar numbers to the rest of the world. Why do you think they should be given a preference?

>The cost of the services is offset by taxes collected on wages that are never refunded.

You seem to forget that these people are illegal, hence they're not paying any taxes. The vast majority of them work off the books.

>If they are illegals, they also lose every bit of FICA.

Yes, they're illegal and criminal. The only FICA being lost is the American citizen's whose jobs have been taken away from them. But it's not just about jobs, it's about their presence on American soil that is not wanted.

What part of the SOTU speech, where the President said "no amnesty" doesn't bay buchanan partner, tom tancredo, understand.

Actually what he said was ... rejects amnesty

And we must have a rational, humane guest worker program that rejects amnesty, allows temporary jobs for people who seek them legally, and reduces smuggling and crime at the border. (Applause.)

>Did the Italians and Irish come in through Ellis Island or did they just stroll across the border in the middle of the night, violating all kinds of immigration and labor laws?

I agree with you, Reaganwuzthebest.

But let us not forget that this nation was founded by Europeans for their progeny, not for someone else's progeny.

Beware of the brainwashed little minds who say that they're against illegal immigration but in favor of legal immigration. That is exactly what the enemy wants us to say. So, what's the difference if the invaders come in legally or illegally? Legally or illegally they still end up being on American soil. Legal immigration is as much a problem as illegal immigration, if not a bigger problem. The quesion is now HOW (legally or illegally), the question is WHOM.

My husband and I and a couple of friends were in a Ventura restaurant awhile back. While we were eating dinner 3 different mexican people came by to sell us flowers. I called the manager over and complained because he let them in the place to start with. I felt that it was HIS fault my dinner was interrupted 3 times.
He said the owner had a very liberal policy about letting the illegals in to sell their flowers. I said then we won't be back because my policy is not to do business with anyone that aids and abets illegals.

I have done that at other places over illegls working there also.

Right. And Bush rejects big government too. LOL

The borders remain wide open, over a million illegals cross into the US every year and employers still violate the law by hiring illegals. Bush embraces illegal immigration and the flow of cheap labor it brings bigwig GOP business donors. Not to mention his pandering to Hispanic voters.

I'd be happy if they just brought legal immigration numbers down to what they were in the 80s, which was about 500,000 a year. We could probably use a 10 year moratorium at this point but politically I don't ever see that happening.

"This has got to stop, and the only two answers I see are twin 15 foot steel fences, and the Guard on the border."

First must come the rebellion

and the maggots in Washington District of Criminals better wisen up. They work for US, not the other way around.

In these Orwellian times, forgiving illegal immigrants their crime isn't Amnesty, as long as you don't actually use the word.

Indeed.  Forget English, Newspeak is becoming our official language.

We've been doing nothing for the last five years. I think a change is in order. Let's go with the Tancredo plan and reject stupid Presidential rhetoric. Nothing from nothing, leaves nothing.

Saying that Bush's plan IS amnesty is bull.

It would be great if you were right.  But I stopped believing in the Easter Bunny and Superman long, long ago.  In the real world, amnesty by any other name ("guest worker") is still as ugly.  And yes, stephenjohnbanker is right.

BUSH"S guest worker program IS amnesty, period!

It's an opportunity. Mexican culture has a lot more reverence for life than Hillary's modern post-Protestant culture. It's when they come to the US that they are turned in to dark siders.

what a joke! Mexico is, I think, rated 2nd in the world in kidnappings, after Colombia. The murder rates in Tijuana , Mexico City and N. Laredo are astounding. A big reason people are leaving Mexico (besides employment) is that it is not safe.

But I know they pledged allegiance to the colonies not the crown -- that made them American, not some paperwork.

That doesn't really work when the immigrants coming north have been taught from pre-school on that we're an evil empire that stole Mexican land. That hard wiring is not eliminated when they cross the border.

>>>>Well .. Have Tancredo pass a Bill/Law than ...

Tancredo has been the sponsor or co-sponsor of numerous immigration reform proposals. Some have even become law. His guest worker legislative proposal is a good one. Check it out: Rewarding Employers that Abide by the Law and Guaranteeing Uniform Enforcement to Stop Terrorism Act of 2005 or the REAL GUEST Act of 2005 .

HR 3333 is a much better proposal then the Kyl-Cornyn, McCain-Kennedy or the Bush-Rove proposals being floated around WashDC these days.

That's not the way it works. HR3333 was referred to the House subcommittee on Employer-Employee Relations on August 10 2005. The House Immigration Reform Caucus and its 83 members, including key members like Mike Pence, Henry Hyde, John Shadegg, Joel Hefley and John Sensenbrenner will work top advance HR3333 through the process.

Many of us here have called upon the states to take care of the illegal immigrant problem, since the Federal Gov. has abdicated its responsibility.
