I'd give the Address a B, and the speech a D.

President Bush is one of the least talented public speakers among presidents in memory. He generally hits an annoying cadence with his speaking voice that tempts me to tune him out. I fight against that temptation, but it's still annoying.

I can usually get past that to hear the words that are being said, and generally, the words, the sentences, the concepts, are very good. But his speechifying isn't.

Anyway, that's my opinion, and I expect to be flamed for it. I doubt that I'll respond to those flaming replies.

I agree with you! Unfortunatley Pres Bush, though improving, will never be the Great Communicator like Ronald Reagan; that's a very high standard. But I will say, I see improvement through practice. He still has three years to improve some more...... And his speach writers are not as good as Reagans either!

"President Bush is one of the least talented public speakers among presidents in memory."

I agree with ya. Bush is not a great speaker, at least most of the time on TV he's not. I saw him in Waukesha Wi, and he rocked the place.

I was hoping for more Tax reform / Border Control context in the speech. We all know about the WOT and that the Moonbats are FOS - if he would have hammered on that more, I would have gone straight A - I had to go B - Can't join the D-F commie crowd.... Even if he can't give a flawless speech.

That being said - he did get all the libs to stand up and applaud their own obstructionist ways - RNC campaign ad anyone....
