A child's socialization skills were considered by Dewey to be much more important to society, and it's still the primary argument used against homeschoolers. ( Cinives)
Cinives,
Socialization should be the primary argument used against government schools. It is the primary reason why we homeschooled our children.
Isn't it time we throw this back in the face of government schools defenders? Shouldn't we be pointedly asking them, "Just why are you doing this to your children?"

Actually, I do throw it back in the face of homeschool detractors repeatedly. It's the best argument to use FOR homeschooling, closely followed by academic achievement.
