A big-government, pro-abortion pol from NYC, who can't deliver his state to the Republican column, comes South. Save your cash, Rudy. Southerners deal with the slickest pols from infancy, and you won't fool them into thinking you're a conservative.

Actually Rudy is polling really well in South Carolina and Georgia - better than any other Republican. McCain is a hard second regardless of what Freepers think. We are only a tiny portion of the electorate. If we want someone like Allen to run (which I am totally NOT AGAINST running for president) we need him to poll alot better than 3%.

I believe Rudy is a fiscal conservative. It is his social views that are the problem. I think he is the most competent politician in the U.S. and would overlook the social views just to get his leadership. Our security trumps everything in today's world.

Have you read any of his books. He has real leadership. Also, on crime, national security and justice matters, he is as conservative as any FREEPER. True, he is liberal on social issues like abortion, but I can live with that. I would take Rudi over any of the other named potential candidates, except possibly George Allen.

The first sentence of this article is a false premise and everything that follows it is a falsehood. Nobody has announced yet. What these liberal media whores really fear is what they do not mention - - Jeb Bush. Jeb will wipe the floor with anybody they are promoting. The left is trying to put themselves into the driver's seat for the GOP primary. If Jeb runs, all bets are off and Hitlery is nuked right out of the box...

You forgot "anti-gun".

I predict that Rudy just may save the collective _______ of the Republican Party in 2006. He is a powerhouse.

You left out anti-gun rights and anti-business.

If Rudy wants to play carpetbagger, go ahead, but he won't get anywhere in the South with his views.

You're kidding right? Just look at the Senatorial representation from the state of NC. We're not only fooled, we're apparently Republican stalwarts. Conservative? What's that?

I agree. He won't win over the south, or the religious right.

Rudy is even pro-PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION, and against our 2nd amendment rights.

If Rudy is the presidential candidate, I will vote third party.

As a Texan, I would respectfully disagree with you on Rudy's chances. It's a lifetime in political terms to 2008, and Rudy is not the average candidate. He doesn't need to be a blue-blood conservative to win in the primaries. For most folks, he has earned the chance to be heard with an open mind.

As this week has proven, the War on Terror will continue to remain focus #1, and unless there is a very very strong conservative candidate with national security credentials, this race will be unique in that it is shaping up to be full of nationally known names on both sides (McCain, Guiliani, Rice for the GOP; Edwards, HRC, Kerry, Gore, for the Dems). I'm not saying that any of these names will actually get the nod of their respective parties, but it will be interesting to watch. Names like Pence, Tancredo, and Allen are likely to be nonstarters as they're not even well known in their states, much less the entire Union. Remember that the last member of Congress to be elected to the presidency was JFK, almost half a century ago.

And you can bet dollars to doughnuts that Dubya is already thinking of whom to endorse in 2008. The president may very well look to see who will be the best choice to continue to defend America against Islamofascist terrorists, with all other concerns relegated to secondary status. After all, with no Life nor Liberty, there can be no Pursuit of Happiness.
