I worked in Manhattan during Rudy's reign and I can tell you that the turnaround was dramatic. He took what had been long thought to be an unmanagable city and cleaned it up. The democrats who control all the levers of power in NY were constantly barking at his heals like rabid dogs and no matter what he did they and their partners in the LSM accused him of being a mean spirited bully. He kept a smile on his face and soldiered on. The most dangerous city was transformed into the safest large city in the US.

Now granted I wish her were not so lib/moderate on social issues but even there he's not a hard left purist he is more libertarian. Sure I hope we have a strong conservative on the ticket and who knows one may emerge. But I can tell you this I'm not going to sit on my hands and pout of a 100% pure conservative who I agree with on every issue is not the nominee. I would rather have Rudy as CINC than McInsane or God forbid PIAPS so if he's the nominee I will still crawl over broken glass to vote for him.

Well said. Rudy cleaned the porn shops out of Times Square, got the bums kicked off the streets, cracked down on crime and put a bunch of mobsters behind bars. During the Dinkins administration people were afraid to walk through the streets of Manhattan. He has never wavered in his staunch support of President Bush and the war on terror and in Iraq. He is no where near as wishy washy as McCain. As I said earlier, I am a big fan of Tommy Franks and would love to see the General throw his hat into the ring with Rudy running as VP.

More of the same Rudy worship

Rudy did not clean up NYC with a hickory axe handle in one hand and a pearl-handled .45 in the other. He hired very smart cops, improved the technology they used, and let them do their job.

And for the record, the city is unmanageable. Those who try to mold it usually get ground into dust.
