I think assault is a felony. Hopefully, they will follow thru with the prosecution.

Felons can't vote in most places.

Assault is sometimes a felony, sometimes a misdemeanor, depending on information available at the time the charge is placed.

Unless they are democrats. Or give a fake name and vacant lot as their address.

Sadly, that's more of an urban legend these days. Most convicted felons CAN vote, so long as they aren't in prison. If I recall correctly, as long as you aren't on parole (or in jail) for a felony in NC you can still vote.
