He also played Lester Bangs in "Almost Famous". Lester Bangs, aside from being a writer, was as different from Truman Capote as a character could be. Hoffman has incredible range.

And he was excellent in "Capote", which is not about the life and times of that author, but specifically about the Smith/Hickock murder case and the writing of "In Cold Blood". It was terrific and he should get the Oscar.
