of course it ruins the movies.
Same as barbara streisands rantings have ruined he old movies. Same as George Clooney does not get my box office dollar.
Why would I want to see anything that supports the left.
There is way too much competition for my entertainment time and money for me to waste my time.
Even the references you cite do not give afirmative evidence, if anything the reference to "developed a more sensible life" following his post car accident drinking would tie into the reference to the "guilt" reference in the article.
As for the wikepedia. That is way too discredited to be taken seriously on ANY subject.
I'm sorry, I just don't understand that. If the performances are good, don't they stand by themselves? Clift's been dead for forty years - whatever he was or wasn't, it's long since over.
If it really bothers you to think Monty Clift was gay, then don't think of him that way. He was a great actor. And if he was, how would that make him left-wing? I have no idea what his politics were.
I just pulled what I could find with a three-minute google; some references are better than others, and wikipedia, I agree, is pretty useless. If you want to google him yourself, you'll find many, many others.
If you love Monty and his sexuality actually matters, I suggest you never see him in "Suddenly, Last Summer". I don't think you'd do too well with THAT movie. ;-D
Pick up any book about Clift or Liz Taylor and there will references all through it talking about Clift's homosexuality.
