None of the major categories but it did for makeup, visual effects and sound. It's up against Star Wars Revenge of the Sith for visual effects and makeup so I wouldn't hold my breath there but you never know. For sound who knows. These categories are usually voted on by the technicians and who knows what politics are involved.
I haven't watched the Academy Awards in over 10 years. It used to be a must see for me, now I don't even remember the exact day it comes on. I don't watch it for the same reason I don't watch Chris Matthews and 60 Minutes. If you want a reality check in the Entertainment field, you won't find it at the Oscars.
I have a relative who won an Oscar for a technical catagory in the mid 70's. From the way I understand it, he gets a ballot for the catagory he won in and best picture (everyone votes for best picture). I think he told me that is the way voting works for all the technical catagories. I don't know about the acting catagories.
