What's beautiful is that there's no way for them to back-peddle on SS. At least with the patriot act they can *claim* they want it to go forward, just not as it stands. (I don't think they had any intentions of that until they got their butts chewed by their constituents after the fact, but that's what they can claim).

Bush asked for their thoughts and suggestions on SS reform a long time ago. Unless I missed something, they didn't bother to offer any suggestions when explicitly asked for them....they only offered complaints.

Maybe I missed something, but it looks to me like that's what happened at least.
