It was in November at Giants Stadium. Pres. Bush 41 was in attendance.

I am glad that the police At Giants' Stadium weren't PC and did the responsible thing. I am sure having Bush41 there amped up the security even more. That is why I think it is a positive statement that Ms. Rise will be in attendance on Sunday.
A family member is involved in the government, and they have been getting "threat reports" bullitens about a possible attack in Detroit, or most likely in another American city during the super bowl. According to this family member, there is a lot of "chatter" going on. Nothing concrete is being said about the subject, but they believe Feb 5 is a significant date, because it has been mentioned frequently. Remember that Bin Laden and his buddy have been releasing tapes lately, which have sometimes been used in the past as a signal to attack. Be vigilant.
BUMP TO POST #54
I forgot to mention in my previous post that a biological attack was on the list of possibilities for Detroit.
I mentioned this elsewhere but I think it bears repeating. During the Superbowl Christian churches all over the country will be holding typical Sunday evening worship services. Many will be hosting superbowl parties for young people. I know, I used to be a youth pastor and did this every year.
I have not found anything about a specific threat to such gatherings (other than one comment on another thread where a woman mentioned that her mega-church in Miieapolis had been cased by suspected terrorists afew months ago).
It is (once again) only a hunch, but churches have been attacked in other parts of the world, and just past weekend in Iraq 4 churches were bombed.
I don't want to be an alarmist but I think it would be a good idea for churches to get the word to be extra vigilant this Sunday, specifically Sunday evening.
While I agree that the Super Bowl would be the perfect target for a biological attack (people from all over the country getting together, partying together, then returning to their respective towns - it would be an epidemiological nightmare scenario), it's just not very telegenic.
After all, you never see the attack. You can only infer it later.
Plus, bin Laden is a structural engineer. He takes pride (or at least has taken pride) in his ability to do maximum structural damage with relatively small amounts of force. Had his guys been able to park the truck bomb closer to an outside wall, the twin towers would have fallen in 1993.
This doesn't mean, of course, that he has planned this attack personally, though it does seem that when it comes to attacking the Great Satan he is usually involved.
Dunno, dunno. But all the warning signs are there: the ode to martyrs, the offer of a truce and the offer to convert to Islam. All standard precursors to an attack against non-muslims in the past.
Now that's creepy.
>>>Sum of All Fears (not the PC movie version) scenario anyone?<<<
This is not at all improbable. Islamicists have been trickling across the border into Michigan for twenty years now. They must have quite a few "agents in place" in Detroit.
Thought people would find this article interesting.

It is very interesting. It always pays to be prepared.
"WINNIPEG The Canadian NORAD Region (CANR) will conduct an early morning exercise rehearsal January 26 in the Windsor, Ont/Detroit, Mich. area in preparation for air defense support to Super Bowl XL February 5 at Ford Field. The exercise will comprise a series of training flights conducted in coordination with the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, Continental United States NORAD Region (CONR), Canadian Air Defence Sector; Nav Canada, and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
NORAD is a bi-national Canada-U.S. command responsible for the aerospace defence of North America. This rehearsal is a robust, bi-national exercise to test intercept and identification operations. It will involve CFs out of Bagotville, Quebec; a CH-146 Griffon helicopter out of Kingston, Ontario; F-16s out of Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich.; multiple Cessna aircraft; a C-21 Learjet; H-65 helicopters; an E-3 Airborne Early Warning and Control System aircraft; and air refueling tankersall flying at low altitudes above the Windsor-Detroit area during twilight (very early) hours Thursday. In the event of inclement weather, the exercise will roll over to the following day."
Wrong. Dearborn has the highest percentage of arabs, Not Detroit.
"Go Trojans!"
Your mascot is a rubber?
Dearborn, a suburb of Detroit has the highest percentage of arabs outside of the middle east. MIdad23 is wrong.

Well--how close is Dearborn to Detroit?
These terrorists have automobiles, you know. They also take subways and busses to their targets.
What's the diff if they're in Dearborn or downtown Detroit?
Don't be pedantic. It's not a question of municipalities or parochial borders. It's about the "greater Detroit metropolitan area."
According to your reasoning, Toledo should be fortified for the football game.
According to your "understanding" of it.
Since you have no understanding of boundaries, lines and demarkations of Michigan - I would suggest you start here.

Pedantry is so . . . . boring.
