I think his 'speaking for the Commonwealth of Virginia' was his not-so-subtle way of flinging it in the face of Virginia conservatives in particular and conservatives everywhere in general, that he is a very Blue governor of a supposedly Red state. He isn't just a stark-raving dipsh*t, he is an ARROGANT stark-raving dipsh*t. Four more years of this ..... if I wasn't laughing so hard at his performance tonight, I'd be sick.

Good analysis! Did you notice Ron Popeil in the background? I'm sure he had a can of spray-on hair in his left hand. And I think I saw a syringe of botox on the mantle..........

I felt like i was wathcing Jack Nicolson in the first batman movie. I was very offended at the lie that he spoke for the commonwealth. never touch another man's rubarb and never say you speak for someone you don't speak for.

Hmmm...if by saying he is speaking "for the Commonwealth of Virginia," then is he saying his speech was "official business?"

Now the SOTU is official business by the President, although yes, it does have a large political component to it. I would hope that Virginia taxpayers were not charged for preparation of the rebuttal, though.

AND (as noted by another FReeper on a different thread), fossil fuels merrily burning in the fireplace!

"If you listened to it on radio"

Actually, right, was listening to audio, doing something else. Must have been the best eyebrows since Senator Sam Ervin of Watergete fame.

Has anybody measured the political fortunes of the unfortunates who have "rebutted" each of George W. Bush's SOTU speeches? Just curious...

BREAKING NEWS !!!!

I believe I have figured out the "eyebrow"!!!!!

Gov. Kaine has a left GLASS EYE !!!!

One of my best friends has the same left glass eye.
When it was made for him, he had lost his real eye by being hit with a thrown bottle, which hit him in the eye socket.

I went with him on at least two different occasions to have it "adjusted" so it "performs" while positioned in the socket. If you have a chance to watch the replay of him again, notice the red area on the left side of his left eye. That is the socket being visible due to the Glass eye not fitting properly.

It also "meanders" around in the socket, (as does my friend's glass eye). His right eye stays fixed on the teleprompter above the camera lens, but the left eye (the fake one) sometimes readjusts after he blinks, and is very much out of position, sometimes aiming almost like he is looking at a fly on the end of his nose.

Also, it looks like the area above the eye has had to be "fixed", either by plastic surgery, or when he had the "accident which caused him to lose the left eye. The left eyelid droops, and makes the area between his eyelids and his eyebrows VERY uneven.

This is just this freeper's VERY humble opinion, but if you can see a replay, think about what I have posted, and watch his left eye very carefully, and I believe you will see what I mean.....

In all seriousness, could the eyebrow thing just have been a nervous twitch kicking in?

Just to clear up any misconceptions...Virginia governors are prohibited from serving two consecutive terms. They can serve, wait out a term, then run again a la Mills Godwin in the '70's. Some here want to change this to allow consecutive terms, but I like it just fine the way it is.

And yes, Little Timmy Kaine is the fool he proved himself to be last night. I lived under him as mayor of Richmond, and he is an empty suit, as liberal as the day is long. I still can't believe he's Governor.

And by the way fellow Virginians, when the &$*&% will we kick Russ "I never met a tax I didn't like" Potts out of the state GOP?

Well, then they're even -- Bush's SOTU speech similarly ended any chance he had of re-election.

Your theory makes sense. I was transfixed by the eye/eyebrow yesterday, and it looked to me like the entire area of the left eye was damaged, including the cheekbone and the obital socket.

Of course, I am not a doctor and this was from looking at a TV screen from 10 feet away. But something about that man's left eye just ain't right.

Maybe he suffered some kind of injury and lost this eye. If so, I'll stop making fun of him.

Until then, man did that thing look creepy!

My guess is that the govenor got picked to do the speech so that he give that lead in line about having worked as a missionary in his youth. Is he a Mormon?
