They should have taken the dog food to use it as bait to catch yummy dogs.

Are you feeling a bit peckish right now?
I have most of a pack of "Beggin' Strips" left that all my dogs refused to eat.
You're welcome to them.....:)

Have Kenyans shown a distaste for mailmen and an improved ability to catch Frisbees?

Oh course they have the right to object. Objection and outrage are the two things that all people have in common. It's the loud obnoxious glue that binds all cultures together, taking offense and complaining about the cook are universal.
Should they eat the offered dog food? Not my call.
Should they raise hell about it? Again, null response.
Me, I've been hungry. I spent some time homeless in the 90's and found a fair degree of sustenance in places most people wouldn't dream of, and if they did dream of it, they would probably wake up in a cold sweat.
Dogfood? Sure! I would yes to raw grubworm paste if I were starving.

Ever look an oyster in the eye?
Maybe, but we don't like to talk about those days. We've all tried to move on since then.

It's not about pride, it's the fact that dog food is just that, dog food. It lacks the substances you find in proper human food.It is food manufactured for dogs, it may not have all the nutrients in the proportions ideal for humans. My great grandmother told of several winters she survived on bark soup. I have no doubt that she would have gratefully accepted dog food if someone had offered it to her. She'd also have grown to over 4 foot tall, which she never did as was.
And plus, have you ever tasted dog food before?
If you read my post in it's entirety, you'd know I'd smelled dog food being prepared and thought it smelled delicious after only a 7 hour fast. Give me 24 hours without food and a couple of spices, and I would feast on it.
Of course it's about John Munyes pride. He's not starving. He's probably not missing any meals. IMHO he'd probably feed a family of twelve for two weeks by himself.

That's why I think the people making these remarks are not starving and are living high on the hog. They make comments like this leads me to believe that they think they will be getting steak instead of dog food and then they will keep it for themselves. They could care less about those who are starving.

And plus, have you ever tasted dog food before? And what "substances" would those be? If I was starving I doubt I would be too worried about "substances" that might be lacking in the food. I would be glad there were "substances" that could keep me alive.
Also, it has happened that men have eaten dog food by mistake thinking it was meat spread and thinking it tasty at the same time. Several ladies have told stories of hubby accidently eating the leftover dog food they put in the fridge for the next day.

Yes, "GM" (genetically modified) is a bogeyman created buy the eco-freaks, primarily in the EU. They like to stir up a lot of trouble in Africa with it.
As to the Kenyans not eating yellow maize, I refuse to drink "New Coke". Also, when I was in the USMC the rumor was that the mess-hall chow had been modified with potassium nitrate...
I guess we are all susceptible to rumors and "primal fears".

I find this whole story a little hard to swallow. Uh let me rephrase that, something something just doesn't smell right. Somethings fishy? I have a kibbel uh quible about the veracity of this story.

P.J. O'Rourke referred to it as "Famine-Chow.
Another classic line from the master.

It just clicked why this John Munyes doesn't want dog food sent for the starving Kenyans. It is not pride, just economic acumen. There is no market for dog food in Africa to speak of. Normal human food can be resold and the money used to line his pockets. As the great MahaRushie says "Follow the Money!".

"I have most of a pack of "Beggin' Strips" left that all my dogs refused to eat." LOL. My dogs won't eat the Milk Bone Snacks that Sandy Clause brought them for Christmas.

Interesting as my dog also will not eat those "beggin strips" but for some reason loves an off brand sold at the dollar store.
I actually never feed him anything but scraps but my sister always brings him some treats when she comes by.
She has spoiled him to the point that he tries to go with her when she leaves.

Right now mine heavily are into "Nawsomes" which, at 4 dogs and 9 Nawsomes per $3 canister is getting pretty expensive.
Whatever happened to the days when a dog was enraptured if you simply threw them half a cracker or a bit of cheese?
[spoiled brats! TV ruined 'em all!]....;D

Well...get used to the idea that people from the third world are subhumans. You'll find those thoughts quite often here...I have gotten used to them by now.

I take it no one here has ever watched "Survivorman" on the Science Channel?
It's amazing[ly repulsive] what a human can eat when necessary.
I keep thinking of him coming home after his most recent "adventure" and trying to kiss his wife hello.
Were I her, I'd scream and run away....:))

"She has spoiled him to the point that he tries to go with her when she leaves." My dogs are spoiled too. I cook each (4) a chicken leg quarter daily for dinner.
