A truce offer, and now an invitation to George W. Bush to convert to Islam. They're either:

A. Completely nuts, moreso than they've always been
B. Trying to create the impression that they have an ace in the hole
C. Or they actually do have something big looming, and are attempting to be merciful before the point of no return.

I tend to go with both A and B, myself. They're going to be sweating security up in Detroit bigtime though.

I can't conceive of any scenario where al Qaeda lands a decisive hit on us that doesn't redound to them as us tossing the Queensberry rulebook out the window.

I've been wrong before, but I can't see how they could survive facing the capability of an America sporting the missionary zeal and moral compass of the old Soviet Union.
