It must really suck to be a Democrat nowadays!

They lost the Whitehouse.

They lost the congress.

They lost the Supreme Court.

One day they'll wake up and realize that the Michael Moore/Cindy She-hag wing of their party is destroying it.
But I hope not too soon.

Don't get too confident. Yes, this a great and wonderful victory for a decent, God fearing man and his wonderful family. But, there is much work to be done. We must all work together to totally destroy this "Traitor/Treason" Democrat Party at the polls in both 2006 and 2008 and beyond. That is the real mission. The current Democrat Party needs its heart ripped out!!!

I agree up to a point.
The elected hierarchy of the Dem party is fully invested in the Michael Moore/Cindy Shehan, etc. types. But, they don't just respond to pressures from those crazies--they, too, are on the fringe. IT IS WHO THEY ARE.

They lost the Supreme Court.

You are WAY ahead of yourself.

All we know is that Thomas and Scalia are proven conservatives. Alito will be "probably" like Rehnquist--there will not be a quantum leap toward more conservatism there.

Roberts may well be like O'connor. I hope, as you do, that Roberts is like Scalia/Thomas but none of us can say so until we see the cases ruled on.

There has been no major shift toward the right--Alito will not be dramtically more "right" than Rehnquist, and Roberts is the scary "what if he is another O'connor" or even more leftist.

Anybody who believes there has been a firm shift to the right is mistaken. We hope Roberts is a conservative. He is more a question mark than Alito. Alito seems to be a true conservative. Roberts is a BIG question.

Even so, if we count Scalia, Thomas, Alito and (Roberts?), then all that means is Kennedy is now the swing vote, not O'Connor. We need five true conservatives--even if (IF!) Roberts turns out to be to the "right", then that still is only 4 conservatives out of 9. If Roberts is more to the center/left, then we have only 3 conservatives out of 9.

Again, you are WAY ahead of things here and off track.
