BTW, I think that may have been a communication problem that led you to that conclusion. "I trust that those two Catholics will vote according to the Constitution" wasn't sarcastic, simply what the text said -- I trust that they will vote according to the Constitution.
yeah, I have to admit I have posted the "Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" a time or two on here. Even better was a couple weeks ago a poster here wrote "I don't have to have been on Grant's March to the Sea to have an opinion on it."
Of course that's HIS hair, HE paid for it !!!
Re: "...now Justice Ruth Bader doesn't have to share the girl's room anymore."
Who the blazes would want to use the same loo, anyway??!!
BLECCHH!!! ***{8^Q
They aren't Catholic.
#15 (not necessarily in the priorital order) reverse McCain-Feingold's anti-Free Speech bill.
LOL!
Congratulations, Justice Alito. America is lucky, and proud, to have you.
OK. Gotcha.
You know, there are very conservative people who aren't Catholic, FYI.
I wonder if Byrd voted yes to try to compensate for his KKK past. Remember the KKK was part of a nativist movement that also had anti-Catholic attitudes, not just anti-immigrant and anti-black.
Re: "...Michael Steele, a black conservative Republican is running..."
IIRC, I've sent a contribution to him, rather than any of the RINOs from my home State of ME.
And when I get the dunnings from the Republican Senatorial Committee?
I reply with a note that I'd rather have a REAL Republican from ANOTHER STATE in the Senate than a RINO from here, thank-you-very-much!
Lieberman is up for reelection and the rats are coming after him, doubtless trying to eliminate every trace of non leninist orthodoxy from their caucus. Call this a "freebie" for Joe. I don't like his tendency to modify his beliefs according to circumstance, but he's the closest thing to a moderate democrat there is in the Senate, so oh well.
It's sort of like "sloughing" in cards. If the trump has been played, i.e. you know the candidate will be confirmed, you can "throw away" your vote to get some PR that you need for your reelection effort.
I am very happy for Supreme Court justice in waiting Alito as I would be for anyone of like thought and credentials. I hope you do not put yourself in the category of the hateful, disgusting,DU mimicking anti Harriet Miers group. To want someone else instead of Miers was fine, and there were quite a few that were decent about it, but the majority of anti Miers people were over the top and vicious, and belonged Guarding a junk yard. They were not just horrible with Miers, they were really horrible with GWB. They were on thread after thread agreeing with DU trolls, too vitriolic to know the difference between a troll and someone that just had the same opinion that they did. Ted Kennedy and the Democrat pond scum could not have been more vicious to her than those so-called Conservatives on Freerepublic,Talk shows,Ann Coulter, etc. Rush is wrong, it may have been a crackdown, it was also a crackup and I will never feel the same way about any of those vicious so-called conservatives again. There is no way you can really trust someone again to do the right thing when they behave worse than the enemy just because they did not get their way. Vindication is for someone unfairly persecuted. It was a very bad time, and very destructive to President Bush and the Republicans, and it has taken him all this time to recover somewhat. This is not a Football game, this is about real lives and real issues. Harriet Miers is a decent person with credentials that were assailed like she was poor white trash, and she was the adviser that went to Camp David with the President when Alito was selected. This hateful, mean spiritedness that manifested itself so glaringly during that time can never happen again because it is destructive and makes the average person that one day may become a Republican have second thoughts. The Liberals could not have scripted the behavior of the So Called Conservatives any better for negative Publicity than they themselves did. If you think I am kidding, just talk to fairly Conservative Dems that are potential switches and see where I am coming from. Those of us that try to recruit have had a difficult time since the Crackup, and it may be a long while before we see any movement. In two weeks I will be trying again at one of our best venues for Recruiting (County Fair), and I will know any long lasting damage that has been done at that time. I am hoping for a great number of switches or new registrations. If the Schizoid behavior of the Conservatives continues, it will be a useless effort.
Re "... Today they wear the face of utter defeat ..."
Which they are not at all familiar with, and with which they tend not to deal with all that well.
As I never tire of writing all liberals, "Three more years of Bush!"
Roe should be a states issue, not a federal issue. If you don't like it, petition it, get it on your state ballot. Let the people of your state decide. If they decide to ban it, so be it, if the majority of voters decide to legalize it, stop complaining, because you have essentially voiced an opinion on the subject by a mere vote.
IMHO, Byrd did change his views regarding the KKK. People can change. He also supports preserving our historic battlefields - I wish more senators did.
You could not be more correct.
