Sorry, I can't post an excerpt, due to some pompous twit at our local paper or at Gannett HQ forbidding FR from even excerpting, for crying out loud. So I'll have to paraphrase:
MoveOn decided to tackle "Congressional Corruption" with some allegedly "nationwide" event in 100 cities, including here in Ft. Collins, where "about a dozen" people, including all the organizers (bigtime whoopdeedoo here) showed up Sunday.
But the truly hilarious part is that they proceeded to circulate a petition (no doubt printed at MoveOn HQ and flown out here with their puppetmaster just in time for this enormous event) that demanded Musgrave return $65,000 she'd received from health insurance and pharmaceutical companies prior to her casting a vote for a Medicare drug bill wayyy back in 2003 that these same interests were lobbying for. The only problem is that while the MoveOn stooges were doing this, someone found out that MoveOn had gotten their facts wrong and that Congresswoman Musgrave had actually voted AGAINST the bill in question. Apparently their 65 grand wasn't going to buy her vote!
ROTFL!! This invalidated MoveOn's entire reason for their (not-so-) big protest! Unsurprisingly, their lame excuse for this incredible screwup is that the mixup was "insignificant" and that the rally really was all about congressional corruption in general, ignoring the fact that they wasted an hour collecting 100 signatures (in one of the heaviest foot-traffic areas in town) for a completely meaningless petition expressing outrage at a vote that never was cast.
Of course, true to form, the left-leaning reporting staff didn't mention the screwup until midway through the article. It would have been bigtime headlines if a local conservative group had screwed up this badly!
