DEAN UNDER FIRE FROM PARTY DEMS; NEARLY ALL CASH SPENT Mon Jan 30 2006 10:52:31 ET

Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are privately bristling over Howard Dean’s management of the Democratic National Committee and have made those sentiments clear after new fundraising numbers showed he has spent nearly all the committee’s cash and has little left to support their efforts to gain seats this cycle, ROLL CALL reports.

Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committee’s $34 million.

Senate and House Minority Leaders Harry Reid (Nev.) and Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), along with the Senate and House campaign committee chairmen Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), have made their concerns -- directly or indirectly -- known to Dean, claims the paper.

Emanuel was particularly upset last week upon seeing the latest DNC numbers.

“A lot of people are scratching their heads as to what’s going on,” said one senior Democratic aide.

Another Democratic source familiar with the party fundraising apparatus said there is “obvious displeasure” among the leaders.

Too funny considering that this debacle is every bit their fault as it is Dean's, especially Pelosi. Is this an admission that she's just a talking head that spews forth whatever talking points are handed to her and she doesn't have a clue as to what is going on in her party? :-)

That's great. They're broke 9 months before the election.

Well, not broke, but down to pocket change. My only regret is that they discovered this about 6 months' too soon...

They also knew some republicans voted for him in primaries and pumped cash into his campaign early on. It is like they wanted us to pick their DNC chairman.

If you're a higher-up in the RNC, Dean is a gift from heaven. Next step: be "accidentally" caught on an open mike saying that you're scared of Dean keeping the chair because he's such a tough guy, a shrewd strategist, and is exactly what the DemonRat constituents need right now. Dean will hear it and go even more psycho.

No more like "Inner City Boys Club" a.k.a. Liberal Talk Radio to help cover Franklin's two million salary.

The MSM will predictably play the "Wealthy GOP is out-spending the poor down-trodden Dems" stories for several weeks.

"Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committee’s $34 million."

Isn't that awful? Howie boy just spent too much money on all the smear campaigns... But then again, given their record for truth-telling, it's not a good bet to believe anything that's said.

Don't know but on Fox yesterday he looked kind of scared.........My guess is the left wants to dump Hillary from the presidential ticket for her saying she is not willing to withdraw troops immediately. And after today they will want to throw Lurch under a bus for failing to block the vote on Judge Alito. .......So now Dean can resign from the party chair for doing such a crummy job of raising money and run for president himself. The loony toon left would be ecstatic!! Maybe Dean has hoarded the money for his own presidential run. Just a thought..........

Not surprising that someone who has no idea what money is worth would be out of money.

Didn't he run his failed presidential campaign the same way?

Insanity/Liberalism: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

“A lot of people are scratching their heads as to what’s going on,”

What's going on is we're seeing Democrat social and fiscal policy in action: Spending money on nothing and then being p.o.'d that more money doesn't just appear when they really need it.
