DEAN UNDER FIRE FROM PARTY DEMS; NEARLY ALL CASH SPENT Mon Jan 30 2006 10:52:31 ET
Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are privately bristling over Howard Deans management of the Democratic National Committee and have made those sentiments clear after new fundraising numbers showed he has spent nearly all the committees cash and has little left to support their efforts to gain seats this cycle, ROLL CALL reports.
Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committees $34 million.
Senate and House Minority Leaders Harry Reid (Nev.) and Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), along with the Senate and House campaign committee chairmen Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), have made their concerns -- directly or indirectly -- known to Dean, claims the paper.
Emanuel was particularly upset last week upon seeing the latest DNC numbers.
A lot of people are scratching their heads as to whats going on, said one senior Democratic aide.
Another Democratic source familiar with the party fundraising apparatus said there is obvious displeasure among the leaders.
Developing...
They still have Hollywood and the MSM that will offer free advertising. Still, their ciculation is falling as well...
I'm shocked that this is getting no coverage by the DUmmies. (Yes, I lurked there so you don't have to)
They are bankrupt.
Morally and financially.
Well, the Dem Senate Committee has MORE money than the GOP one. Not by much though.
The Dem Senate committee has more than the GOP one.
Dean is just an absolute failure. lol
WE don't want him fired before November, that is for sure.
I guess it's true what they say about sane people not being willing to give money to crazy people. Or it could be that all the deaniacs who donated to Dean, don't have any lovebeads left to sell to raise more cash.
Of course the legend of Dean as a fundraiser is more of a myth. He never came close to the numbers put up by Dubbya.
The DUmmies are too busy to notice since they are jamming up the Capitol switchboard pleading for an Alito filibuster ; )
Elizabeth Dole should be replaced then.
I read earlier on FR that both Dean and Harry Reid are in trouble with fellow 'Dims': Dean for his money handling and Reid for his Abramhoff ties. There's speculation that Reid may step down as Senate Minority Leader.
I'd rather they both stay in their respective positions until after the November election. The same for Nancy Pelosi. America needs them to help us understand just what 'Dim'ocrats really stand for.
Ah...maybe this explains why Dean was taking pot shots of "corruption" against Reid recently.
ROTFLMAO - that magical "raising money on the Internet" stuff always stunk to high Heaven...
Dean is the Democrat's ongoing gift to the Republicans. Now if they'll just run Kerry a second time ...
Thank you, Karl Rove, for planting Dean in thier midst.
The dems still think he is a dem believer! LOL!
There was recently a news item stating Jacko is looking for employment as a consultant. Perhaps the RATS could hire him to help them with cashflow problems.
Have a little pity for Howard.
Please send any wooden nickles you can spare to the DNC to help them in these troubling times.
Must be GWB fault
With Dean's past performance in high office, this comes as a real shocker (not).
I'm sure I don't know...
