If they fly over there on their own then I don't think the military owes them.
Chance are they don't. They are probably there on tickets bought by theri companies yet reimbursed by the military. For the most part (incidents like Nick Berg aside), Americans that are over there with the military are there because the military has asked them to be. 99% of all contractors over there which work with the military are there at the military's allowance only. Therefore, and as Eagle Eye said to you, since they have military ID (CAC) cards, they are entitled. The back of my CAC card I had while over there allowed military hospitals for critical treatment. Which is what these jouranlists are needing.
