I think President Bush expected Mr Browne to perform according to his job description. He didn't and was fired.

Why don't we simply abolish FEMA and transfer its floodplain mapping responsibilities to the Geological Survey? Why does FEMA deserve to continue its disgraceful existence? It sounds like a clueless abomination with similar emergency management skills to the governor of Louisiana and Ray Nagin's school bus evacuation team. Why not simply relieve FEMA of its miserable existence and legislatively euthanize it?

Before FEMA , how on earth ever did communities and individuals survive?
It's the old 'If Big Gubamint is good, Bigger gubamint will be great!'
Individuals and communities that choose to rely on others may eventually find that they will oft if not always be disappointed.
