FReeper Canteen ~ Military Short Speak ~ January 30, 2006
Penelope Pitstop

Posted on 01/29/2006 6:09:14 PM PST by StarCMC

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

********

That's right - the Canteen mission
Support the troops and all they do
They've given up so much
All for me and you

There are so many here
Who keep the aim sure and true
They support the troops
And have lots of fun too

We dance and play
And spin on our toes
A turn of phrase
A joke or some prose

All for the troops
Who visit and  bask
Looking for a friend
A break from their task

So thanks to my friends
You know who you are
This army sister's brother
Is home from the war

You made my life easy
You taught me some things
You brought me such peace
You gave me wings

I'll always hold dear
The ones who have cared
Who gave me their true friendship
Thank you FReeper Canteen.

Good news!

Okay, Tom, I will give you good news!

Nana came through the surgery just fine - thanks to a great Doc and lots of your prayers - in just under two hours. She had a spinal, so was pretty alert when she got to the room. She visited with friends and family for another 3 hours, then decided to take a nap (just like some Canteeners I know!).

She feels no pain, yet...the anesthesiologist said that wouldn't happen for at least another 12 hours. She says she feels much better today than she did back in April for the first one, so we have high hopes for a better recovery time.

I still need to make a couple of phone calls to family members who weren't home this AM...so I'm signing off for a bit.

I'll be back!

Course that leaves me to wonder....the lady just let him do that???? lol

My Son-In-Law is a doctor, he says he has been offered more free samples than a Walmart buyer at a grocery store convention.

The kitchen is almost packed up and we are living off paper plates, etc. for the next 10 days.

One of the best ideas we had! We ate off paper and plastic while showing the house, so we wouldn't have dishes in the drain if we had a no-notice showing. It carried over to the move, made things so easy!

Thanks for the prayers, they're being answered. So far, the day has been a snap. There's an update at 3-hunnert-something...
