They are a party with relatively no money. Republicans are KILLING them in fund-raising. You think some granola-munching-left-wing hippee can through big dollars their way? So they have to literally do what they are told, or risk losing dollars from the few (Soros) that they can depend on.
Lets say I was a wacky liberal: Would I be putting aside money to give to Democrats, or would I be buying weed?

Soros and Moveon.org...stated after the election in 2004...that they OWN the dem party...because of all of the $$$$$$ that was put in their coffers...
and that the agenda would be set by them...and from what I have seen, that has played out...
