As an American taxpayer, you are the ultimate guarantor for all federally insured mortgages, which includes FHA mortgages and all VA mortgages.

Well, that's just fine, isn't it?

The way I see it, since we're only going to be taking our money to pay ourselves back, there really is no need at all to give anybody in NO that money, is there?

Since you're into posting your "conservative principles," what about personal responsibility?

Why didn't these people have home owners insurance AND flood insurance? If their houses are destroyed, the insurance will pay them what they insured them for and they can pay their mortgages off.

Why do WE have to pay them anything?

Oh, I believe in personal responsibility.

But, it's funny thing.

I haven't yet met anybody whose property was destroyed by a hurricane who turned down federal assistance.

How about you? You live in a hurricane zone, if I recall correctly. Have you ever met anybody who turned down FEMA assistance, or the Red Cross, or free ice, after a hurricane?

I ask because I don't know. I haven't yet suffered a natural disaster, and I pray God I never will. But as a taxpayer I don't mind making relief available for those in need.
