It's a strong candidate for sure, but I'm not sure it meets the "rail on top" requirement mentioned in the article. Most of the newer .45 designs have accessory rails beneath the barrel, wonder if they want an AR-15 style picatinny rail too.

I wonder if Glock's .45GAP is in consideration, same ballistic properties, shorter cartridge.

I have a Colt 1911A1, and it's my sentimental favorite.

But the best modern combat pistol I've ever fired is the H&K USP .45. It has a long double-action trigger pull, but its single-action is great, and it sits low in your hand like a 1911.

I thought that looked familiar!

I've got a H&K USP 9mm Compact myself - love it, wonderful sidearm!

I use hydroshock hollow-points in it. Need to get some cheap ammo for practice.

Figure if I need something bigger the "schnik schnik" of the 12 gauge'll do.
