How to you set a standard for someone who had to move because his house was destroyed? Residents of Lakeviw and the Ninth Ward are all in the same boat. If Lakeview evacuees are permitted to vote the evacuees from the Ninth Ward must also be permtited to vote and even still register to vote.

Landrieu will win the mayor's race based on the White Liberal Democrats that live in Uptown.

I agree with you that all residents that are registered to vote should be allowed to vote. What I dont agree with is attempts to register new voters living in other places without sufficient means to verify that they are indeed citizens of the precinct in which they are registering (for ex the attempt in the legislature recently to allow registration by mail for people that have never been registered before..there has to be some means of checking the identification of these new voters to guard against fraud, imo.) There's a difference also, imo, between concerned people finding out how they need to go about voting and doing so and having politicians hunt people down and bring them to the polls or bring the absentee ballots to them and tell them how to vote. Unfortunately that's how it's done all too often. Now theyre just having to create ways to find them all over the country to get the votes.
I agree that Landrieu will probably win. I dont think a real conservative has a chance even if all the Lakeview residents vote....the numbers just arent there for them in the city. The real impact of all the moving around will be seen in statewide elections, like Mary's coming up, where they depend on the dem base in New Orleans to put them over the top. Any ideas on what republican could beat her? I read last week that Jindal is eyeing the next gov race, and as much as we could use his leadership, I sure would like to see him stay fighting for us in Washington.
