This is in fact an interesting move for Mitch. Before Katrina he was actually getting some good reviews by Repubs and Dems alike for some of the stuff he was doing in the Lt gov office. However this is his best bet. Also, it allows him a place to keep his options open. What Nagin will fo will be interesting. More interesting is the fact that Republican contigent in NOLA and how they would vote. I have to admit I would hate to make that choice.
I wondered last Thanksgiving when the Nagins went to Jamaica on vacation, ostensiblly to unite Jamaica to New Orleans in some nefarious way ... if Nagin was trying to set himself up with a fallback employment opportunity ... just in case things don't work out for him in N.O. Sort of an in-house lobbyist thing to implement this sister city relationship [wouldn't that be Kingston, not Jamaica?] or something.
