How times change. Only a few months ago Mark "one vote, one gloat" Steyn was waxing excitedly about how elections in Arab would liberalize the Middle East. Now....the new party line seems to be that extremist victories are "good" because they show the truth. I suppose he'll use this arguments if the Muslim Brotherhood wins the first free elections in Egypt.
You obviously missed the point of his article. Reread the title. At no time does he infer or claim that it is a "good" thing that Hamas is now officially in power. So just what in the bloody hell are you talking about?
You're eager to bite Steyn, but your attack is totally unsuccessful.
Did you expect Steyn to include all the factors following from the Hamas victory into a single article?
And shouldn't you think for yourself, at least from time to time, if you're interested in the subject?
Try this: the Hamas gangsters now will try to take over the racket in the PA which belonged to the PLO (Fatah and Al-Acsa) ones. The latter won't easily agree to hand over all the dough, and in any case it is not on the "government's" books, but in the private Swiss accounts of the ringleaders.
Do you remember for how long they were keeping already dead as a log and fastly rotting Arab-Fart on the ventilator while they were trying to persuade his widow to part with at least some of the magical numbers?
Same will happen now, but in the meanwhile the too mobs will shoot at each other... they already do.
Is it good?
Yes, it is.
Would it happen if the old mob managed to fake an election victory again?
No, it wouldn't.
And it also liberates Israel from the sad necessity to fake some 'peace negotiations' with the Palis...
Think yourself, it's a useful exersize - you can find more good things following this election.
