Nope. McCain probably has the best chance of any Republican to win in a general election, but he'll get beaten in the Republican nomination. Some conservative will clean his clock. His best shot would've been to turn coat and run as Veep on the Kerry ticket in '04.

Why doesn't McCain just become a Democrat and get it over with. I put him in the same general category as Howard Dean.

He sounds like he is STILL running against Bush for POTUS, doesn't it???

And, in the mean time...he is denigrating his own country on foreign soil...which is usually the habit of dems.

"....deteriorating war in Iraq, says the senior Republican senator tipped to become the next president of the US..."

Both lies.

In an interview with The Weekend Australian, Senator McCain also criticised the US and Australian governments for their stance on greenhouse gases, including the new six-country pact on developing cleaner energy technologies.

McLame is really a piece of work isn't he. Within the past two weeks right here on FR I saw a posting that while Europe who signed Kyoto is not meeting the 2005 goal in reductions, but the US who rightfully refuses to sign the treaty has actually reduced it's greenhouse gas emissions. I find the whole thing rather tedious and take the Rush attitude - man is to insignificant to actually alter the weather of the globe. If we are truly this powerful lets put a stop to the hurricanes and bring some rainfall to AZ (Phoenix just set new record of 102 days with no rain).

Were both Clinton and McCain brainwashed by Russia?
Clinton as a volunteer and McCain as a POW.

He really wants to be president. Would he run as an independent if he can't get the Republican nomination?

No.
But a McCain vs Clinton choice might bring the "none of the above" write in votes to a decided majority.
What would "they" and/or "we" do then?

He's got to address the illegal aliens and legal immigration polcies and revert back to pre-1968 Immigration Act when 90+ of all immigration was from our mother continent - the cradle of civilization - Europe. Either he does or no Republican will be elected. I will not vote for a candidate who does not address the illegal/legal immigration issues that are critical to the survival of our European culture and our country.

Not by the blood, sweat and tears of my own.

I PLEDGE TO DEFEAT McCain if ANYONE is stupid enough to by the idea he's not as bad (infact he's worse) then any Democrat. I'll be posting vocally against him here so long as Jim Robinson graciously allows, I will sabotage McCain among Independents and Democrats that have voted Republican in past. Given they know my opinion of Democrats, that will carry weight among those I know. I will NOT stand by and allow him to represent the Republican Party, and if by chance people overrode, selected Mccain, thinking that's the end of it? Uh-Uh. Up to Nov. 2nd I would work to his defeat.

Senator McCain, who met Prime Minister John Howard in Australia earlier this month, also suggested the ALP needed a generational change. "Apparently they have to go through what the Conservative Party just went through in the UK - find some leaders that spark the interest of the citizenry," he said.

Given Howard's party completely dominates in Australia, we have here yet again an example of Mccain's LUNACY. What the fool really means is that they dominate so exclusively that RINO counterparts like HIMSELF hold less ability to control Howard.

Senior Howard government officials rejected Senator McCain's suggestion that the US had neglected the region, saying that Mr Bush had held bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the past six months and noting the administration had re-established military ties with Indonesia. The US's role in keeping alive the six-party talks on North Korean disarmament is also widely acknowledged.

And yet again the fool spouts Liberal dogma.

McCain, GET THE HELL OUT OF THE PARTY.

If I sound furious, I am. I am sickened Mccain is allowed to stay in the McCain. But I'm more sickened that I've seen a couple of blogs says they'd hold their nose and vote for someone at LEAST on scale with Hillary. Voting for the Devil in Republican cloths, is still voting for the devil.

Is that something like cow tipping?

If George Allen or Mitt Romney don't build a strong showing very soon, the answer is "YES" you will see McCain as the Republican front runner and possible nominee.

Can he get the nomination? If the media party votes for him, he still does not have enough votes for dog catcher of the nation. And IF by chance he got the nomination, a huge number of Republicans would not vote for him.
