The principal acts like he needs a tube of Preparation H.

Can't be sure based upon this article but I might side with the ACLU for the first time in decades.

The kid should be punished but it was a funny prank. He should've used a free anonymizer service. lol How thin the skin of the mighty.

This is just chilling. The jackboots have run amok in the USSA and the "conservatives" are usually on their side, so it's only gonna' get worse.

I hope the kid wins a big settlement and defects to a free country.

The principal should sue this student and ACLU for defamation of character and spreading a false profile, pretending that the principal is the one who filled this out. The student should be banned from graduation, and made to wear a sign for one year that he is a criminal who defames other's character for no reason.

Since this story has a vacuum surrounding this student, it implies that this is the first stupid thing this kid has done in his life, or specifically his high school career.

I'll take a wild guess that this kid is a jerk and has a track record of doing stupid things. I could be wrong about this - I thought I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken.

If this kid was prone to bad behaviour and the principal had to reprimand him after the kids insulting parody, there would have been a lawsuit anyway. The principal was in a "no win" situation I feel. Putting him in a different school would assure that the principal wouldn't be accused of prejudicial treatment.

Everyone who is siding with the "kid" and the aCLU on this one why don't you send me your name and photo and I'll set you up for ridicule on that sewer MySpace.com. I promise I'll make it really hilarious. A "prank." Drugs, booze and sexual disorientation will be guaranteed in your "profile."

Is there anyone who hasn't made fun of their principal during their high school years?

Sadly the reason many think it is funny is because it involves a principal of a public school. The lack of respect here is alarming. And we wonder why the kids mouth off to faculty and staff. They see that behavior modeled every single day.

Free speech or not, it was wrong and the kid knew it was wrong as evidenced by his apology and the fact that I'm sure he didn't go up to the principal and say "hey! check out my new myspace.com. You'll love it!"

"Not to excuse it, but school officials need to understand that they're not parents," Walczak said. "School officials can't reach into parents' homes and tell them how to raise their kids."

Perhaps if the parents had been doing their job, little Justin wouldn't have gotten expelled. Instead, we get the parents teaching the boy that there should be no consequences for his bad behavior. For this kids sake, I hope he loses the suit.

Slander and desrespect from children has nothing to do with "freedom of speech."

Now if only the student had been insulting President Bush, then he would be hailed as creative and given accolades.

There are aruments on this thread concerning "jackboots" and "thugs" but the real point is being missed in the line below.

""Not to excuse it, but school officials need to understand that they're not parents," Walczak said. "School officials can't reach into parents' homes and tell them how to raise their kids.""

School officials are not parents? School officials cannot tell parents how to raise their kids? This is coming from a leftist liberal group?? Has not the left pounded into our heads over the last 3 or 4 decades that the school is there to replace parents and that they know best? What has happened to the ACLU? And more importantly, why is this not the focus of the thread.

Back in the day, 'Justin' would have received an application of the "Board of Education" and it would have been over with, hopefully with his learning proper conduct towards Teachers or Principals. Thans to people like the ACLU and other bleeding heart moonbats that can no longer be done, so schools try to find alternate ways to deal with misbehavior.

Now, the ACLU wishes to stop that as well.

From the article: "School officials can't reach into parents' homes and tell them how to raise their kids." No? How is they can take a 13 year old for an abortion without parental consent? How is it they can teach children "science" contrary to the parents beliefs? How is it they can pressure children into admitting abuse where none exists? For people who can't tell parents how to raise their children, they sure are busy doing just that, with the blessings of groups like the ACLU!

I hope people start waking up and seeing the ACLU is about destroying our constitution, not saving it.

Courtesy, Respect, Consideration & Thoughtfulness were lost a generation ago which is quite visable in the posts that defend this student.

We are now seeing the results in this newest generation.

Very sad
