Your Mental Attitude - Cornerstone

Waste of time is one of the most costly expenses on life’s ledger . . .
it can never be reimbursed.

Thousands of people would never have experienced the bitterness and helplessness
of want if they had not first been guilty of WASTE.

There is a constant dissipation of thought and feeling, just as there is of physical energies. Each in turn exacts its heavy toll from us.

Dissipation of thought and feeling proves wasteful and ruinous to the mind and heart
the same process is equally as destructive to health and strength of the body.

As one man puts it: “Dreamy revelries, desultory reading, unregulated and scattering thought, plans formed without reason, or never carried out to wise results, are as truly dissipation of the soul as the wildest revelries and indulgences are of the body.”

Waste produces decay, stagnation, barrenness,
unproductivity, lack, ruin, destruction, want.

Wasting time on the job or money from our savings doesn’t make much difference…
both have the same end result.

Squandering or wasting time can never be accurately tabulated for us, but most of us are keenly aware of how destructive it can be and how terrifically costly.

YOU can do something about it by developing the habit of thrift. By substituting thrift for waste, you will have made an extremely valuable forward step.

Cultivate this important thrift habit in all things . . . be saving of your time .. . on the job or off . . . saving of materials and equipment . . . on the job or off . . . thrifty with physical energies . . . thrifty with unregulated and scattered thinking. .

It will pay YOU big dividends in all directions to cultivate this all-important habit of being thrifty with your time, energy, thoughts and material possessions. Learn to be careful in avoiding waste or dissipation in the small things and the larger ones will automatically fall into the same pattern.

It is entirely up to YOU during each day to calculate and control WHAT PRICE you want to pay for WASTE. We never fail because we are too thrifty in safeguarding our time, thoughts or physical energies . . . but because we are not thrifty enough.

Twenty Third Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green Pastures,
he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for his name's sake,

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine
enemies: thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my
life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The Greatness Of Gratitude

Read:
Luke 17:11-19

One of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God. —Luke 17:15

Bible In One Year: Exodus 21-22; Matthew 19

cover Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem when ten lepers approached Him. Standing at a distance, as lepers were required to do, they called to Him: "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" (Luke 17:13).

When Jesus saw them, He commanded, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they journeyed, they were healed.

One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back, threw himself at Jesus' feet, and thanked Him. "Where are the nine?" Jesus asked. Good question.

Jesus referred to the grateful man as a Samaritan—an outsider—perhaps to underscore His saying that "the sons of this world are more shrewd . . . than the sons of light" (16:8). The word translated "shrewd" means "thoughtful." Sometimes people of the world have better manners than Jesus' followers do.

In the busyness of life, we may forget to give thanks. Someone has done something for us—given a gift, performed a task, delivered a timely sermon, provided a word of counsel or comfort. But we fail to say thanks.

Has someone done something for you this week? Give that friend a call or send a thank-you note. After all, "Love has good manners" (1 Corinthians 13:5 Phillips). —David Roper

We thank You, Lord, for blessings
You give us on our way;
May we for these be grateful,
And praise You every day. —Roworth

We don't need more to be thankful for—we just need to be more thankful.

Hi Jinxy!

No, not cold. The last two days have been very mild. Start out cold in the early morning hours, but warm up nicely. Today was warmer than yesterday. Into the 50s today.

It has gotten chilly here, overnight at least.

Phoenix was nice and warm, though.
