They "delayed" only long enough to send urgent word to Osama to hoof it out of there. I don't trust the Pakis any more than I trust any other Mahometans. It was a mistake to allow them to possess nukes. Their nuclear and military facilities should have been annihilated within 36 hours after their first test.

A long time ago a Navy captain told me something that I will never forget, " it's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission".

Fundamentally, OBL being alive and in Pakistan (or at least a perception of this) is necessary for the gravy train to continue. As long as the top dogs are alive and the Paks keep producing the repleacable "Al Qaeda #3s", it serves the Paks well.

stunning...yet not surprising....
for there's already been a time when the word "is"
was treated as a poor foolish gambit in waiting.

The near-miss was cited by the diplomat as the reason why America chose not to consult Islamabad before the US missile strike in Pakistan's Bajaur region two weeks ago. The I'm not sure that I buy this tidbit. Seems to be more CYA for Musharraf. Not that I have a problem with it.

"For unknown reasons, Pakistani officials delayed in giving permission..." The reason is the Pakistani Intellegence is in bed with Al-Qaeda and wanted to tip him off. Why, for money and influence among a population sympathetic to him. Musharraf wants to stay alive and in power and has to go along. The American alliance with Pakistan is a sham in many ways. Pakistan wants to keep the hunt alive and continue to rake in the US money. They do this better with Bin Laden alive.

Prevarication? Maybe they meant "Procrastination".
Either way, we are ahead of the game as long as UBL is either alive, or thought to be. Pay no attention to the moonbats' cry of "We should have gone after bin Laden"; that is a red herring from desperate Bush-haters
We should allow the jihadis and the rest of the world continue to believe the tall sheik is alive well beyond his inevitable demise.

didn't I hear Dems recently clamoring about Bush screwing up by letting bin Laden get away from Tora Bora? Those nutjobs who went on OReilly this past week were saying something like that...

The January 13 attack, prompted by a tip that bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was hiding in a local village, killed 13 civilians. No terrorists, relations to terrorists or hiders of terrorists? Just civilians? hmmm.

My wife's co-worker son is in Pakistan visiting his father that is her ex-husband. The son said everyone knows he is hiding there and the people and the government are protecting him. It is common knowledge.
