I, too, am amazed that no one noticed that she was pregnant. Now, I'm wondering if the child is grossly overweight. Sometimes, that will hide a pregnancy.
"The mom and daughter have a long road ahead of them.."I agree.Just imagine the emotional trauma this child is going through and will continue to endure.Hopefully the sentence will be comensurate with the crime.I've been following the Vermont case and have been stunned by the lack of outrage. It seems O'Reilly is the only person who gives a damn.Sixty days, later increased to 3yrs?Is that justice?
I guess I think that the death penalty would be letting him off too easily, too painlessly, too quickly. I had in mind a long, long time of suffering for this, uh, 'man.' Just throw away the key, life with no possibility of parole, among the open prison population...or if the death penalty, death by ants eating him while he's tied to a tree. I still think death penalty is just an easy way out for this person. But he should never be able to have access to any child again.
Putting the horror of this perverse crime aside for one moment, how is it that a 10 year old girl is even fertile these days? When I was 10, I didn't even know about menstruation yet and would have no reason to know for at least a couple of years.
Hmm..I hadn't thought about your theory #2 and plastic. My doctor told me never to microwave anything in plastic and never to drink out of plastic containers (especially alcohol or warm liquids) because the plastic releases phyto-estrogens. He said this also is causing men to develop breasts.
There's also an "Abbeville" in Cajun South Louisiana.
I started at 9 (40 years ago) and I assume it wasn't super uncommon because well, I think a few friends in 5th grade had too....plus none of the adults acted too shocked (OK, granted, they didn't talk about it anyhow, so what do I know ;) )
That's all I want. I don't care about the method, just that no one can be hurt by him again.
"The couple is getting a divorce"==
that is so tragic.
I was in the 4th grade - about nine.
I personally know two that started their periods at 8yrs old. My aunt -who worked at an elementary school- said it happened all the time at very young ages. The youngest she knew of was in the second grade -about 7 or so. Tragically, most girls this young have no idea what's happening to them.
I'm not a spring chicken and my aunt was my Mom's eldest sister, so this has been a 'now and then' thing for a long time. Just think back to the days of arranged marriages. Some of these girls were married out at really young ages, going back hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Maybe some were 'given' away 'too' early, but most not until 'she became a woman'.
I guess I was a late bloomer.....my sister didn't start until she was 15.
"Circumcision with chainsaw would help"
----I guess you are Home Depot's new spokesperson,
Lorena Bobbitt?
http://www.mum.org/menarage.htm
info about menarche which occurs whether one knows anything or not. The age has decreased. And in the fifties I knew girls who had menarche at age 9, fourth grade usually. The earlier age of onset is related to a number of factors. But age 9 or even 8 is part of the bell shaped curve of the ages of onset. I don't think menarche at age 8 is considered premature.
There is speculation that ingestion of beef containing hormones as well as mild from hormoned up cows is related. I know my granddaughters drink milk from cows who have not gotten any hormones and they don't eat much red meat for this very reason.
The sentence for the guy in Vermont has been changed by the same judge, to 3 years at least. Well-deserved public pressure goaded on largely by B O'R. Formerly known as a hanging judge, Cashman has been lately trying on a new persona, "the non-judgmental judge". It hasn't been working as he hoped.
9 year old "wife", a meteorite, a moon god and he's good to go
Hellooooo! Did "mommy" not catch on that her 9 year old was not needing monthly "supplies"?
Is there an epidemic of raping children or are we just hearing about it more? Da*n these child rapists to hell!
Agreed!
