THE TRUTH HITS CLOSE TO HOME---Can't Repubs say "Mary Jo Kopechne?"
NY POST ^ | 1/28/06 | EDITORIALS

Posted on 01/28/2006 6:51:46 AM PST by Liz

THE ISSUE: Sen. Ted Kennedy's membership in Harvard's all-male Owl Club. Picking on the ponderous Sen. Ted Kennedy is like picking only the low-hanging fruit — it's too easy......

*** ....when he first ran for the Senate, Kennedy's opponent said, "If your name was Edward Moore, instead of Edward Moore Kennedy, your candidacy would be a joke"........ the joke has been on us. Paul Bloustein Cincinnati, Ohio

*** The person responsible (for Teddy's dog Splash's name) may well be Ted's old friend and occasional nemesis — John Barleycorn. James Ring Ossining

*** Now that he's become a leading anti-Republican attack dog, positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity..... It's time to say the name "Mary Jo Kopechne" out loud. Bill Morin Vernon, Conn.

"Not all white trash is poor and lives in a trailer park."

That line is a superb summary of the Swimmer.

sKerry's bad enough,but at least he's not a murderer.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. He shot an unarmed fleeing Vietnamese boy in the back.

Where did you hear that buzz? That would be a great story if it were true. I know that if I had been Alito's wife during that hearing, I would have stood up and said "Senator, have you no shame"?

I remember there was some speculation about that, because there was talk of Jr. possibly running for the NY Senate seat, thereby throwing a wrench into the Hildabeast's machine. Nothing would surprise me at this point about the toons.

The story has been blown up and exagerrated considerably.
The Alito family apparently attended the same church as the Kopechnes. It's possible that those two families (barely) knew each other in passing, but Alito's wife never met the Kopechnes.

We internet folks have busted out way beyond the MSM.

It's time for a new book on Ted. Guaranteed best seller.

Just as a point of fact...

I don't know of any Mt. Holly, Pennsylvania. I do know, however, of a Mt. Holly, New Jersey. That Mt. Holly is not too far from McGuire AFB. Also, Rancocas High School is in South Jersey.

Good point.

Popular name. There is also a Mt Holly Vt, and a Mt Holly NC.

When I think of the scandals that were allowed to stand back in those days, it infuriates me. I despise the old media for what they perpetrated on the gullible public.

If freepers and bloggers had been around in the 60s, history would have been changed.

TK would have been busted in less than a day.

Imagine how the history books will conclude that our entire nation was corrupt to have allowed either of the Senators from Massachusetts to remain in our Senate. They are both flat-out criminals insulated by wealth.

I don't know about the entire nation, because neither Kennedy nor Kerry will ever be president. However, the voters of Massachusetts from 1969 to the present sure are corrupt.

The Dems really make it difficult to admit that one is from Massachusetts - Kennedy (any one of them; take your pick), John Forbes Kerry, Michael Dukakis, Gerry Studds, Barney Frank, etc. Thank God I escaped over the border to NH ten years ago. Despite being a Boston Irish kid that grew up in a Democrat union household, I have been a conservative since college. My father, an Irish immigrant, voted the Democratic ticket and was a strong union guy, until the Carter administration when he watched an incompetent president do nothing while inflation ate away at his savings. Pops like the Reagan message of self-sufficiency, less government, and optimism. He voted Republican from 1980 onward. I graduated from engineering school and then got my MBA at Harvard. From the farm in Galway to Harvard Business School in one generation... And, unlike Ted Kennedy, I took my own tests...
