". . .yesterday said she'd support the filibuster "because I do not think Judge Alito would advance the principles Americans hold most dear."

After watching both Clintons, it is frightening
to think what they hold most dear.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) — a potential 2008 Kerry rival — yesterday said she'd support the filibuster "because I do not think Judge Alito would advance the principles Americans hold most dear."

Miz Hillary, I can think of a lot of "principles" Americans hold more dear than a constitutional right to an abortion and Roe v. Wade.

And I know "you know what I'm talking about."

"I'd think that Teresa could manage her money herself."

I hate to disagree, friend, but I don't think she can
manage herself herself.

I was telling my husband this morning, that one of the reasons I love FR is that I get the chance to learn so much, from so many people with such varied backgrounds.

You've illustrated my point.

The Republicans would get creamed in 06 if their opposition was anybody but the Democrats.

No kidding. We are blessed with incompetence in our enemies.

I'm not overjoyed with our prospects though. We've really got to do something about our own stable of candidates.

Thanks.... I'd read that before but couldn't find it.

I'd guess they have it covered in some fashion or other. I think they enter into the daily log those that have been granted the okay to be absent.... now how that comports with the law I don't know. In some cases I'd assume they are on duty as a representative of the Congress [fact finding, etc]... who knows.

Again thanks for the link.

You are exactly correct. There were two things that had set Gen. Washington against the Brits from the 1750s onward: 1) the issue as you describe it when Washington was treated in a condescending manner by their military, and 2) the Brit's treaty with the Indians restricting colonial land access only as far as the Alleghenies.

The General wanted the freedom to acquire more land--in fact, when scholars look for flaws in The General's character (and believe me, they are hard to find) they point to his "land greed."

I would bet a Karl Rove mole planted the idea - telling the simpleton that SheBeast was going to do it and he should beat her to the punch.
