This is definitely going to be the thing that will bring the Republicans down is their refusal to protect the borders in the interest of making sure businesses have cheap labor. Even Freepers won't be able to justify their behavior.
And turn to the Democrats to protect our borders? I don't think so, especially since the architect of our present laws on immigration is Senator Ted Kennedy.
