I assure you, beandog, I do plenty to further our cause besides sit at my computer.

Your story is compelling, and I appreciate it. I just feel a need to challenge fellow conservatives to think twice about devoting themselves to activity that, according to the conservatism of Richard Weaver, Edmund Burke, Russell Kirk, Ronald Reagan, and the like, may be detrimental to the cause and may even, in the long run, warp the person who engages in such behavior.

You say you're making a difference to the soldiers and I believe that. I would never doubt that for a moment. You say aggravating the Pinkos is just an added bonus . . . great! If that were your primary aim, and you were there week after week, trying to outlast a handful of wackos with no life, I'd be worried about you. That's all I'm saying.

I don't really enjoy coming on your thread and playing the gadfly. I just think someone has to keep our movement honest and true to its principles, and, as far as I'm concerned, conservatives ought to avoid 60s-leftist agitator street tactics just as much as they should avoid bullying tactics or distorting the truth to make a point, or lying in the cause of Truth, etc.

If that's not what you guys are about, great. If you find yourself getting addicted to FReeping and start wetting yourself every time you get a 10-second sound bite on C-SPAN or a "shout out" on a blog . . . reexamine your motivation.

(FWIW, I was reacting more to the "FREEPERS WIN!!" thread than to this one.)

I can assure you that I actively support the troops,
in person, the last 224 weeks straight.

And will do it again this week, week # 225

You see I'm one of those vets who had no one supporting them.

Your opinion has been noted, logged, and round-filed.

Do you really want to be The Silent Majority again?

Isn't that how the left got to screw over Viet Nam vets, people like you wouldn't stand up to them lest they soil themselves by fighting dirty when it needed to be done?

I want them to feel they've lost, I want them to feel that they have lost precious ground, and I want their failures photographed and spread all over the web, because in the end we both know what they are doing is destructive to healing of our troops mentally and physically.

And anyone that is willing to let that happen really doesn't have any conservative values to begin with.

If you think playing nice with the Pinkos is the way to win, then, IMHO, you are sadly mistaken. We played nice for too many years and it got us no where. Taking it to where they are is the way to win. It demoralizes them. They can't understand why they no longer own the streets, like they have in the past.

Do we have fun while we're Freeping? Your darn right we do. We enjoy ourselves because we know what we're doing is right. Being conservative doesn't mean being a grump old puss. Takoma and many others deserve our respect. They've given up their time, money, aggravation, etc. They don't have to. They could sit at home and whine, moan, bitch and complain about why doesn't somebody else do something.

Maybe your idea of what being a Conservative is all about is different than mine. To me, this is what being a conservative and an American is all about.

In closing I would just like to say, FREEPERS WIN.

I have participated in many a Freep against Peace Fresno. After a year of standing toe to toe on Friday night. At one point I also wondered what good was coming to me standing on a corner holding a sign in the fog, rain and blazing heat every Friday night. After some introspection I had to come to the conclusion that if someone wasn't out there giving the opposing viewpoint that our society would come to believe that perhaps is war is wrong.

Trust me we have people stop by all the time thanking us for being there to support the domestic side of the war on terror. Many, many of these people have loved ones serving in the military if not in Iraq or in Afghanistan.

You may not be aware of it, but many of the threads about our Freeps are viewed by the military members stationed in Iraq. They are very happy to see that they are being supported by us. We have received thank you cards, T-shirts and letters from some individuals. It is a HUGE moral boost to them to hear about us going toe to toe against the pinkos and peaceniks. Our military men and women are tired of the crap they read about in the NY Slimes and other rags that won't tell the truth about what is going on over there or over hear for that matter.

I just think someone has to keep our movement honest and true to its principles, and, as far as I'm concerned, conservatives ought to blah blah blah blah blah.... If you find yourself getting addicted to FReeping and start wetting yourself every time you get a 10-second sound bite on C-SPAN or a "shout out" on a blog . . . reexamine your motivation.

And that person who has to keep "our movement" "honest and true" would be your exalted self? My, but you're grand. Sweetie pie, you need to shuck the collectivism and remember the true meaning of freedom. We're not a movement. We are the center of the heart of America. We're keeping them off our troopers like you would keep a peeing dog off your rose bushes.

Just what is your motivation for posting such an insulting and demeaning comment?

Do you really not understand how filthy and disgusting these code-pink people are? THEY ARE PROTESTING AMERICAN SOLDIERS, SAILORS AND MARINES WHO HAVE BEEN GRIEVOUSLY INJURED!

You are behaving like a toffy-nosed snot and it pains me beyond words that you identify publicly with the conservative movement. Please be informed that Conservatives come in all stripes and colors and the ones that keep the "movement" alive are not just the suits but the working class folks, the people who get their hands dirty once in awhile, the ones whose kids sign up for the military because they believe in what we're fighting for.

Most of the Wounded in Walter Reed probably don't identify with Conservative or Liberal labels but they do identify with the FReepers and Protest Warriors who make them feel proud and appreciated and loved.

I would really like to tell you what I truly feel about your ill-conceived comments but being a Christian and the Mother of a Marine I can't.

As you asked Takoma in your Post #124 for back up of her word, I ask, "Do you have a link to your active support of the troops". Talk is cheap.

Bush has spent the last five years trying to be above the fray and it has gotten him NO WHERE! So long as the MSM controls the news content, we have to fight back where and how we can. The troops that talk to us in front of WR and sometimes stand with us support our "4 year old" efforts.

You may want to be part of the "silent majority" as in the 60s & 70s, but those at WR and other sites throughout the USA do not.
