That is an interesting point- i think that a lot of americans don't agree with everything W does (myself included) but I think most people understand- and respect- that he is a man in the white house that is doign what he believes is best for our nation. He did not run for president in order to have access to worldwide puntang, unlike his predecessor.

43% is good compared to Gallup and Fox at 41%. Rasmussen has him at 46% today. Its all a fog.

Only 43% have a favorable opinion of Bush, wow, that's great news for the Dems in Congress, but, whoops, too bad that only "36% expressed a favorable opinion of congressional Democrats" and the ants that invaded my kitchen last summer had better leaders and were better organized.

Another useless LAT poll. Here are the demographics. Note they didn't even list the political demographics although they indicate the did ask the respondents Party affiliation.

"Results were weighted slightly to conform with census figures for sex, race, age, education and region. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points. For certain subgroups, the error margin may be somewhat higher. Poll results may also be affected by factors such as question wording and the order in which questions were presented."

The American people are just unbelievably stupid people. With all our country faces, we are doing remarkably well. But still the dolts and whiners aren't satisfied. More of us are working than ever before, we've not been hit again on our soil since 9-11 and the enemy is on the ropes and people have more and enjoy more of life's basic pleasures and conveniences than ever before. I mean what do they want, a perfect world? Bush has toiled like mad to improve the country and while he falls short on certain areas like spending and the borders, we've done pretty well under him during a brutal period in world history.

I just don't get Americans and their mindset. I guess they think life is a bed of roses and a president provides that for them. If all Bush ever did was secure the nation against the Al Qaeda threat and end the Clinton recession which he inherited, that should be enough to earn him a place in our affections. But no, if gas prices are a bit high well that's all his fault, even though Democrats continually obstruct all efforts to increase domestic supply while Bush has over and over tried to tap ANWR while Clinton vetoed drilling there.

I remember after 9-11 thinking we were going to become like Israel, with once a week suicide bombings and that we'd never again be secure in our cities. I foresaw it being unsafe to ride on a bus, get on an airplane, enter a shopping mall or go to a movie. It looked like things had forever changed in terms of our being able to feel secure from foreign threats on our homeland. But instead, Bush went right to work and secured us against having to live in a garrison state like Israel where we constantly fear the next Arab with a suicide belt. No one would have ever guessed we'd go this long without another strike on our soil. But that we have and that I feel my life is back to normal and I can function without feeling undo insecurity is a testament to this man's leadership. We all owe him a dept of gratitude but instead the diaper-wearing American public doesn't feel it's good enough.

Bush fed us steak but we're demanding lobster and dammit if we don't get it we'll just stomp our feet and say we hate him! The fact is, Americans don't deserve a president like Bush. They deserve a Gore or Kerry who would have gotten a lot more of them killed.

But of course a lot of this is the "Nothing But Negative" news coverage of the co-opted news media. And this LA Times poll probably once again has over-polled Democrats. But still, why Bush isn't at a 55%-60% approval rating is beyond me and tells me how low we've sunk as a nation. Maybe Bush needs to get a blow job from an intern to enjoy the affections of the mind-numbed American voter. I don't get it.

yah

I saw this story in the paper this morning and I didn't bother to even read it; just considered the source. What else could anyone expect out of L.A.?

gas prices account for alot of this - its the #1 thing the sheeple see in their face, everyday. the sheeple don't care about national security, or alot of other issues we track here (Alito, NSA). That's not to say they oppose Bush on these issues, they are simply too ignorant about them and it leads to indifference.

But raise the price of gas 10 cents - then they care.
